A New Life

Trying to leave

My best friend Nica and I ran through the school doors, excitement evident as we laughed slowing our pace. We were met with a beautiful wooded area that we had never seen before. The trees were tall with thick trunks, ones i could easily climb. "Where are we? We must've taken a wrong turn Grey!" Concern coated her usually calm, sweet voice. "Let's go back in and ask for directions to the bus side then!" i rang out still in a good mood. Her and i walked back over to the doors and i pulled on the handle, just to find it had locked behind us. Panic set in as the sun slowly fell on that cold winter day. It would be night in 20 minutes and we were locked out of the school in the woods. Shoot!

"What's wrong?!" she chimed into my panicked mind, i looked at her fear covered my face as our small town wasn't the safest at night. "Its locked" at those works her pupils dilated to the same small size as mine. She took a deep breath. "Then let's explore the woods together!" a small dim smile covering her face. I smiled back and nodded in agreeance but still was so horribly scared of the possibilities. We starred walking into the woods as the sun seemed to fly to the bottom of the sky and the moon rose slowly, we lit the way with the small candles we made in our art class. About 30 minutes into the walk police lights lit up the parking lot that felt miles away (it was only 2 miles away by that point).
