Why the mask?

These are broken fragments of Alice's memories, all will make sense in time

                ~Alice POV~
"Can you do it again?" The girl smiled staring at Alice who blinked a few times before she completely vanished "who.." Alice shook her head some before opening her right dove grey eye seeing nothing but the remains of the couple could be seen as she opened her other eye quiet as she herd tiny footsteps behind her
"miss Alice...?" The little voice sounded sleepy as Alice brushing off the strange girl turned to find Sally her eyes half open holding a teddy bear "why are you up...? Miss ann said you needed to sleep.." She yawned a little while Alice turned patting her head "I thought I had seen an un-welcomed guest.." She spoke "back to bed now" Sally smiled some as Alice slowly walked back to a room further away in the factory as she tucked Sally back into bed "now sleep.." She gently brushed some hair away watching as Sally fall asleep rather quickly. Alice stood there watching her for a few moments before she slowly moved back turning and leaving,
"Can you do it again?" The voice echoed through Alice's head as she slowly walked back to the gruesome scene some monsters had already gathered ready to feed "Who was that girl..? She seemed to resemble that little rye.." Alice closed her eyes for a moment as she sighed shaking her head "Nothing but an un-welcomed guest.." Alice spoke up opening her eyes before snapping her fingers "Eat" she commanded watching the creatures swarmed the bodies bits of muscle skin and flesh fell around her the usual sight of this seemed less entertaining, the kill seemed much to quick as she slowly began walking past hearing the doors creak open she stopped turning her head slightly
"Hm..?" She stared at the doors shaking her head she walked down a long hall into a room passing dead bodies some ripped open others left decaying some still somehow alive gasping for air or whimpering with the last bits of breath they had. Alice ignored them all as she walked up up a rusted door pushing it open stepping into the dimly lit room, she flicked a small switch as the light flickered illuminating the huge torture chamber filled with various tools, weapons, devices and a few books scattered around "The play room.." She spoke softly as she stepped through the room stopping looking over the many devices running her fingers over the bloodstained metal and wood standing silent for a moment. "There.." She slowly moved on holding her chest for a moment as she came to an open room some debris, rotten wood and metal lay scattered across the floor "this is where I was awoken..."

                      {3 Years earlier}
"Yes Sir! I'll run that pallet and get the machines running!" Alice smiled some brushing some hair away from her face jokingly saluting as her manager chuckled walking away "alright.." Alice turned on her heels, "Have a good one" she smiled waving to a few coworkers who were leaving as she approached the large machine "Let's see" she reached over clicking a few switched as pulling a large lever hearing the old machine start up with a couple clanks "All set, now to tackle that pallet.." She adjusted her shirt and walked through a large door as it swung back an forth. "Dry pallet.." She hummed softly while loading up a cart with various items before she stopped "hm..? Strange.." Alice walked towards the door before a loud alarm sounded causing Alice to jump back some "what?!" Alice in a panic took off running quickly running out of the back as someone ran up to her "Alice we have to get out!" She grabbed her arm "Wait Melina what's going on?" Alice looked panicked and she was half pulled away "the machines are acting up and this place is going to hell!" Melina yelled over the alarm as Alice looked around "where are the others!" Alice yelled as Melina stopped "shit! They are still locked in the back!" Without thinking Alice made a run for it, she ran towards the back grabbing the large iron doors pulling with all her strength she managed to pull the foot open as her coworkers pushed against it "Run!" Alice yelled as they quickly pushed their way out and bolted for the exit as Alice ran checking each room making sure to get everyone else out before she started to run only to be cut off off and stopped by a explosion from a machine close by "Gah!" Alice yelled out in pain as her skin was slightly burned and ripped "Shit.." She stood still in pain before pushing herself to go forward a bit slower "I have..to find the exit.." Alice covered her mouth and squinted as smoke began to fill the area due to the explosion. "ngh...hello?! Is..anyone else there?!" Alice managed to yell only for her voice to be drowned by the sound of the alarm and fires burning "I-I can't die here..." The thought popped into Alice's head as she tried finding a new route. "Not like this...not with those people at school..I can't leave ash alone..." Alice slowed down a little as a burning chunk of wood fell in front of her "No!" She quickly jumped over and tried to make a run for a open hallway, suddenly time seemed to slow down.
Alice could only hear her breathing as a shark knife glinted as it was thrown from the wall due to another explosion spinning in the air before it struck her.
The force was so strong it ripped Alice's cheeks wide open as she fell the knife lodged deeply in her face, and unbelievable amount of pain shot from her face through her body as she moved her hands shakily towards her face tears blurring her vision "N-no..." Tears completely blurred Alice's vision as she felt her body going numb before everything went completely black and her body lay on the floor blood pooling around her.

This is what death felt like.
{Ash POV}

It was another boring day of class that passed by slowly, as ash stood brushing her silver hair back stretching the Radio suddenly blared a loud alarm like sound "Attention all students of Malberry high and citizens of widleston! This is an emergency broadcast. We have just been informed just a few moments ago there was an explosion at the downtown factory, authorities are unsure of what or who may have caused the explosion and some are saying it's the cause of terrorists, it seems a large group of the workers have Already evacuated but they are saying many are still inside. Every emergency service is being sent,
Now in a desperate attempt to stop the fires and rescue anyone who may be trapped inside." The voice sounded panicked and in distress as the small class listened "Alice..." The voice suddenly came to ash realizing that Alice was working in the factory "No!" She suddenly blurted out before grabbing her bag running out of the class ignoring the teacher and her classmates yelling at her to come back, as she ran a horrible feeling suddenly fell over her. It felt like her stomach was twisted and her chest tightened "please please let Alice be okay!" Ash thought tears pricking her eyes as the thought of Alice being dead hit her even stronger than before she kept shaking her head trying desperately to shake the thought as she ran up to the factory. Sirens screaming and yelling filled the air as ash desperately tried t push through the heaps of people "Let me through!" She yelled trying to push though but to no avail "Please!"
Ash kept pushing and pushing and finally got to the from to her horror seeing body bags already out blood metal and so many other parts scattered. Ash couldn't breath as she took in everything it felt like she would faint "n-no..." She stepped back and fell to her knees as a voice rang out telling those who were confirmed dead
"Luo Zian, Shawn Lible, Melody Dawson, Alice Reisa" all of the voices had suddenly became silent as she herd Alice's name
"Alice Reisa"
It seemed to echo as ash sat there on her knees tears streaming down her face She could hear someone's scream
It was hers.

Years later...
"my lord this is the place.." The hooded figure motioned as several tall dark figures stepped out and towards the destroyed ruins of the factory
"Are you sure of it?" A taller figure spoke questioning as the shorter ignite nodded. "Yes my lord this way.." The figure led them inside as they walked around taking their time in each room before stopping in a medium sized room leading to a hall "My lord there is someone still alive!" The shorter figure ran over to the woman's body "the eyes of two colors, although it seems her body has taken damage.." The taller figure walked over taking the knife out throwing it aside cradling the woman's head as she let out a small faint noise
"Shush my dear.." He picked her up bridal style and carried her to the center of the room laying her down as the figures stripped her clothing off pouring a weird liquid onto her before stepping back surrounding her "Thu body is here, let they soul erupt from death and awake thy powers..!" They began to Chant in a different language as there was a loud scream darkness swirling around them before it seemingly stabbed into the woman's body "Awaken Alice! awaken goddess of nightmares!"
They chanted as the darkness vanished her body falling to the ground each of them silent before her hand twitched and she slowly rose sitting up before standing "I..." Alice spoke reaching up slowly feeling her mouth,
Her jaw hanging slightly loose feeling strange stitches around her mouth "no...."
"It has worked! My lady Alice you have awoken, as well as your powers!" One figure stepped forward as Alice's hands shot out something came out stabbing the figure in the head thus causing the others to step back some "what...did you humans do..."
Alice turned her head, silence filled the air as she flicked her wrist slaughtering the rest of them. "Why.." She slowly stumbled forward until she came across a half broken mirror staring at her reflection her eyes widened seeing they were no longer normal, her pupils had changed from circles to strange target like symbols. "This can't be real..." Alice just stared as a strange woman walked up begin her wrapping bandages around her mouth picking something up "who..?" Alice turned her head a little as the woman held the object up hushing her. A black bulky gas mask. Alice slowly turned facing the woman carefully clicked the mask into place on Alice's face adjusting her hair before stepping back and bowing "Nurse Ann at your service, Lady Alice...Awakened Goddess of nightmares"
