We kept fighting, until the bitter end, Herc was killed not long after Adams was impeached, a bullet wound to the rib, one of his ribs shattered and punctured his lung, he was coughing up blood for an hour before he finally died. His last words were wishing us good luck. Ha, well that certainly helped didn't it? Tami and I are in prison. I'm writing this from a cell as we speak, the only reason we weren't killed on sight was because Tamsin's father is a high-ranking government official, he convinced them to just arrest us.

I almost think I would have preferred death to this, we both would have. The only time I see Tami is during recess and lunch, that's the only time I'm allowed out of solitary confinement. The only thing I'm allowed in here is a notebook and pencil, so I'm using it to the fullest.

This story is our legacy, and I'm not letting it be forgotten. Legacy, what is a legacy? It's planting seeds in a garden you never get to see. We wrote some notes in a song someone will sing for me. America, you great unfinished symphony, you sent for me. You let us try to make a difference, a place where even orphan immigrants can leave their fingerprints and rise up I'm running out of time, I'm running, and my time's up, wise up, rise up.

I've caught glimpses of the other side, Laurens leads a soldiers' chorus on the other side. Herc is on the other side He's with Laf on the other side. Mama was watching from the other side. Teach me how to say goodbye. Rise up, rise up, rise up, America! Sorry this doesn't end happily, really sorry, you have no idea how much I want this to have a happy ending. For Laf and Herc and Laurens to be alive, for Tamsin and I to be free but it's reality, not a story, and reality rarely has the faery tale ending we all imagine.

A/N: Hey guys gals and nonbinary pals! This is it! The end! I hop you enjoyed the story!
