We drove for miles and miles through places of the city I had never even knew existed. This was what I thought to be an impossible task seeing as I had lived here my whole life and knew the place like the back of my hand but Ryder was full of surprises. One of which included him being a college student and was all I could think about as I kept my arms secure around his waist. The significant age difference didn't bother me though, it actually made me more attracted to him than before. God being a hormonal teenage girl is fun.
Pulling up to an old picnic table in the middle of the woods, Ryder cut the engine and turned off the bike.
"We're here." He announced.
"Did you bring me all the way out here so that nobody would here me scream in terror when you killed me?" I questioned folding my arms over my chest.
"Babe, the only kind of scream you'd make with me is one of pleasure." He said smoothly, giving me a wink.
His comment left tingles all over my body. God how I wanted him to make me scream in pleasure.
"Okay big boy." I said sarcastically, raising my eyebrows, trying not to be completely transparent and let him see how badly I wanted him. "So what are we actually doing here?" I questioned.
Ryder reached into his coat pocket, pulling out a baggy and tossed it onto the picnic table in front of me.
"This."
I stared down wide eyed at the the bag of weed sitting before me. Although I had the rep for rebellious behavior, illicit drugs were never my thing. In fact, I hadn't touched drugs since my first encounter with smoking cigs behind the school in eighth grade yet everyone still seemed to peg me for a stoner.
"You aren't scared are you coffee girl?" Ryder said smugly, moving close to me, his face inches away from mine and his warm breath flowing down my neck. "It's just a little bit of weed. It will help us open up and get to know each other better."
I bit my lip hard, almost drawing blood and stared back into his dark eyes. My nerves were eating away at me. Half of me felt completely turned on and the other was panicking. Sucking in a deep breath, I gathered my thoughts and grabbed the joint from behind me.
"Got a light?" I said holding it between us, trying my hardest to wipe away the fear tugging at me and my conscience that was screaming about how this was a bad decision.
Ryder smiled with triumph.
"Of course."
Inhaling the sweet fumes deep into my lungs, I passed the drugs whilst mildly coughing to Ryder beside me. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the high I was getting and felt my nerves start to calm.
"Tell me about yourself." Ryder said, smoke trailing from his lips. I didn't like to admit it but the way he smoked made him look even sexier than before.
"There's not much to tell." I said, thinking hard and shrugging my shoulders.
"Tell me anything." he insisted.
"I like rainy days." I began. "I'm extremely stubborn.. and black eyeliner is my best friend."
Ryder laughed and took another drag on the smoke.
"Could've guessed that." He retorted, making me upset at the realization of how well he could read me.
"What about you?" I questioned back, "Who is Ryder Kingston?".
"Well, if I told you I'd have to kill you." He replied lowering his voice to sound more serious.
I couldn't help but laugh.
"Fine don't tell me." I replied sticking my tongue out childishly at him.
After we spent some time chatting and having what seemed like the most meaningful conversations about Nutella and the backstreet boys we started home. The city looked breathtaking as we drove down, lit up like a house at Christmas.
~~~
We were just about to turn down the road that went towards my house when he turned the opposite direction with a jolt. Anxiety rose in my bloodstream.
"Umm.. Ryder? This isn't the way to my home," I yelled loudly to make sure he heard me over the noise of the bike. He showed no sign that he heard me so I tried again, this time louder and more pertinent.
"Ryder! Where are we going?!" I was getting worried that I was completely at the mercy of him.
Still Ryder showed no signs of acknowledgement although I knew I had been loud enough for him to have heard me this time. Panic rushed over me like a tsunami.
"Stop driving right now and let me off!" I screamed.
Ryder sped up causing me to grip even harder around him. My mind was frozen but I knew that I needed to get off this bike. I thought about jumping off or hitting him and trying to knock him out but I knew that, at the speed we were going, the results would be much worse than the current situation.
This time I screamed again, so loud that even my own ears hurt.
"Get me off right now!!"
Ryder turned to the left, jerking us in that direction. My fingers stung from holding on so tightly. The road we were now on was lined wifh cookie cutter houses and picket fences, though nothing looked familiar. Finally he stopped in the driveway of a house near the end of the road.
Simultaneously as he hit the brakes I jumped off tripping on to my hands and knees but quickly getting up and backing away as fast as I could without taking my eyes off of him.
"Aspen, stop." He said calmly, removing his helmet and taking a step towards me.
"Don't come near me." I said with a shaky voice.
"Aspen there's no where to go. Come back here. There is no point in running." He oozed.
"If it's money you're looking to ransom, you can have as much as you want. I promise."
"If I had wanted your money, I wouldn't have kept you alive this long Hun."
"Then what do you want?!" I asked almost shouting now, furious tears forming and dripping down my cheeks.
Two pairs of hands from behind me all of a sudden grabbed my arms.
"Get off me, don't you fucking touch me!" I screamed, deliriously kicking and struggling to get free
"Guys stop don't hurt her okay." Ryder said to the guys restraining me. "She's no trouble."
With that they loosened their grip and in that split second I knew that if I had only one chance to try and get away, now was it. I immediately shot free and started to sprint.
Although my feet moved fast, I could hear them shouting while they ran after me not far behind. My vision started to blur with stale tears and a bump in the road sent me flying over the pavement. With a resounding crack, my head hit the cement.
"Aspen!" I heard Ryder say through heavy breaths.
I tried to turn and look up but my head felt like lead and refused to move.
Then I heard his voice again.
"O-oh my god.. Aspen there's so much.. blood"
I tried again to lift my head but it fell back to the ground with a thump, a ringing noise now piercing my ears. The yellow street lights above dissolved into the night sky like twinkling stars, everything engulfed by darkness.
