Chapter 3

    It had been a few weeks, Talia and Leon were getting along great. She hadn't felt this way in a long time. She finally felt like she had a friend.
Leon: So when does your mom get out of the hospital?
Talia: Should be tomorrow but they said they're going to put her in rehab and see if they can help her get better.
Leon: Can they do that?
Talia: They called my sister to admit her since she's 25 she can be my moms legal consigner on things like this.
Leon: Well maybe things will be easier for you then.
They walked to class together like every other day. They started meeting at his locker after classes, eating lunch together, and going home together. They had gotten so close in just a few weeks. The day had ended and they were on their way back to Talia's house.
Talia: Wanna stay for dinner?
Leon: What? You're really gunna let me stay this time?
Talia: Well you do walk me home every day, its the least I could do.
They got to Talia's and did their homework then Talia started dinner.
Leon thought to himself This is it. The time is perfect! There's no way any of it could go wrong!
Talia sat the plates down on the table and they sat together and ate. They laughed and joked for an hour then things got kind of serious and tense.
Leon: H-hey Talia... There's something I need to talk to you about.
Talia: What is it?
Leon: Well, we've been friends for nearly three months now.. And I was kinda curious if you would be my girlfriend..?
   He took a deep breath, his body was shaking, his heart in his throat, terrified she'd say no.
Talia blushed a bright red colour and his her face behind her hair. Her eyes filled with tears of joy as she looked up at him nodding her head yes. She couldn't get the words out. She was so happy and excited.
   He jumped across the table and tackled her to the ground in a tight bear hug happy as ever. He looked at her and kissed her soft lips deeply and passionately as he held her close.
She kissed back for only a second then looked at him smiling, she looked up at the time and back at him. Its time for you to go home Leon. She giggled and hugged him close. Leon sighed and kissed her forehead as they got up off the ground and he grabbed his stuff and left for his house.
   Talia squealed and jumped around for joy. nobody had looked at her with such soft and gentle eyes ever. She went upstairs and laid down in bed looking at her ceiling, thinking, wondering, Maybe I should tell him about Kaine.. It had been almost 2 years since Kaine died.
Kaine was Talia's first love, the first person to look at her like she was a queen made of glass. Who made her feel beautiful in so many more ways than one.
She called Leon.
Leon: Hey beautiful, miss me already?
Talia: Hey Leon, there's something I want to talk to you about.
Leon: Alright what is it?
Talia: It has to do with my past and I've never told anyone. But I want to trust and tell you. C-can I?
Leon: You can always tell me anything. Never worry about any of that, I'm always here.
Talia: There was this guy. His name was Kaine Rivers, he was my best friend when I was around 14 years old. He became as important to me as you are.. And he died almost 2 years ago.
Leon: Oh yeah? Just as awesome as me? Sounds like a cool guy, wish I could have met him
Talia: Are you really okay with me talking about this..?
Leon: Well I did just tell you, you could talk to me about anything. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didnt keep my word? How did he die
   Talia started to cry quietly and tried to stay calm. She was happy that Leon was being so kind and amazing about this but very sad and pained that she had to talk about this. Kaine wad her everything and in an instant was gone.
Talia: H-he was walking to my house one night.. And my mom had been drinking, this was back right after my dad left. Kaine always wore dark clothes.
She started to cry hard as she was shaking
Talia: M-my mom had hit him with the car while he was crossing the street to be on the side where my house is.. He was in critical condition for about a year.. And they took him off life support not long after his mom couldn't handle it and had to move out of their house.
Leon took a deep breath.
Leon: I'm on my way.
Talia: What?
Leon hung up the phone and rushed over to her house and knocked on the door
Talia: What are you doing here??
Leon: I couldn't let you cry by yourself
Talia: Go home you weirdo I'm fine.
Leon: No you're not and I'm staying til you're better.
He walked upstairs to her room and laid on her bed waiting for her.
   She walked in right behind him and climbed into her bed laying against him quietly sobbing until she fell asleep in his arms.
He kissed her forehead and held her close I'm never leaving, you'll always have me, princess never worry about that. He said falling asleep next to her.
