Gajeel woke up with Levy wrapped in his arms. Her blanket was wrapped around her and the extra around him. He was leaning against a tree. It was around midnight.
He looked down at her sleeping self. Even asleep, she had a gentle smile on her face. He brushed a hair out of her eyes, then leaned back a bit further, falling into a deep sleep, graced with dreams.
He walked through a blooming forest, holding the hand of a short girl with sky blue hair. Laughing she skipped and twirled around, occasionally letting go, then grabbing his hand again.
When she ran back to him again, screaming in fear and being pursued, he swept her up into his arms and started running.
It felt like they ran for hours before Gajeel tripped and fell, spilling both of them into the dirt.
A monster walked into the clearing. It snarled and swept around. It's red eyes and black fur gleamed like steel.
It grabbed Levy and slowly crushed her as she screamed. Her blood dripped down and stained the dirt.
"No!" He yelled, in agony.
Gajeel sat bolt upright, and barely caught Levy as she flew forward. His arms wrapped around her waist and he pulled her close, unwilling to let her go.
He couldn't get the image of her blood out of his mind.
Levy squirmed around for a moment, before contenting herself that he wasn't going to let go.
She curled against his chest, wondering what had caused this. She'd been suddenly thrown forward, but her hero had pulled her back before she hit the ground. And now, he was stiff as a board.
She pulled back a little, looked up at him, his face a mask of horror. She gently touched his cheek, and said, "Hey, you all right?"
He looked down at her, saying nothing, then pulled her against him in an answer. "I had a dream..."
She nodded against his chest and opened her mouth to say it was okay, but a flash of red and black caught her eye.
She pulled away, and looked at her savior... her hero... her Hunter.
