I found myself laying in bed, wide awake, at five in the morning. After countless attempts to fall back asleep, I decided I might as well get up.
Rocky greeted me as I got downstairs, with his tail wagging furiously. Stepping out the back door, with the puppy on my heels, I was astounded by the view in front of me. The sky was painted orange and red, creating one of the most beautiful sunrises I've ever seen.
Mesmerized, I slowly sat on a porch chair, my eyes never leaving the sky. Rocky decided to curl up on my lap, and I leaned down to hug her.
To my surprise, I heard the screen door open, meaning someone else was up as this ungodly hour. Daniel stepped into my sight, and my stomach dropped. I knew I had to tell him about Jonah and I today, and I was dreading it. Because I had absolutely no idea how he would react.
"Hey."
"Hi, what are you doing up?"
"I could ask you the same thing."
"I couldn't sleep."
I shrugged.
"I come out here every Wednesday morning to watch the sunrise. It helps clear my mind."
He explained to me.
We sat in silence for a few moments, before I finally gained the courage to speak.
"Daniel... I have to tell you something."
"I'm listening."
He turned towards me, giving me his attention.
"Pinky promise you won't get mad though."
"You're scaring me Jas."
"It'll make me feel better."
I told him.
He sighed but locked his pinky with mine.
"I know this is going to come as a shock to you, and I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. But I don't want to keep secrets from you, so I have to tell you that-"
"You and Jonah are dating."
He interrupted me.
I sat there in utter shock.
"How... how did you know?"
I finally asked.
"Multiple things. That time he wrote on the chalkboard, I saw it before it got erased. Jack accidentally mentioned something about it. But most of all, it's the way you look at each other."
He smiled at the end.
"So you're not mad?"
"I was at first. But I've accepted it."
He told me.
"Why didn't you tell me you knew?"
"I wanted to make you guys sweat a little. Also I wasn't ready to see you two together as a couple yet. And, I was waiting for you to tell me yourself."
He explained.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. I just... I didn't know how."
"It's okay Jasmine. I love you."
He leaned forward and gave me a tight hug.
"Thanks Daniel."
I grinned, feeling like a weight had been lifted off my chest.
"Can you do me a favor?"
"Sure."
"I want to prank Jonah."
He said with a devilish glint in his eyes.
"I don't know..."
"Come on. I have the right to have a little fun, since he is dating my sister."
He begged.
"Fine."
I laughed.

Jonah was the last one to get up, which made Daniel's plan even better.
As soon as we heard him coming down the stairs, Daniel started fake yelling at me.
"Jasmine how could you?!"
He shouted, while I pretended to cry.
"Woah what's going on?"
Jonah asked.
"Jasmine is going home. I don't want you two to ever see each other again."
Daniel glared at Jonah, whose face went pale.
"Daniel please don't make her leave. I care about her so much I would be miserable if she was gone."
He started tearing up.
"Awh that's so cute!"
I ran up and gave Jonah a big hug, while Daniel broke into a smile.
"Take good care of her, okay?"
"Wait, you're not mad?"
"Nope."
My brother answered simply.
"You son of a bitch."
Jonah chuckled, wrapping his hands around my waist and hugging me back.
