He walked up to Aisha with so much gusto you could tell she had done her job well.
"Bitch!" I whispered in excitement
"I heard you." she said as she flipped her weave looking him in the eye."Babe, I'd like to take you home tonight."
"Does every girl who looks at a boy and smiles have to be a whore?" She said as her smile gave way to her nobel stank attitude.
"Haba, I never said that. I was just giving a honest comment. I'm sure all the guys here have got eyes on ya!" He winked.
Aisha was your total bimbo on first glance, had a very pungent beauty you could not explain but couldn't possibly get enough of. The perfect height, curves in appropriate proportions and complexion as fair as the golden sand on the sea shore on a sunny day. She would give Nicki a run for her money. She had been told that her teeth were standard by my dentist, when we went for my monthly check ups . That bastard. She was the bait for most of our unwary beasts.
In no time they were headed out of the club and I followed at a distance. She had sold him a story that she was in Lagos to attend a movie audition. He must have been so pleased as he started serving from his script word for word everything Esther told us.
As he went on and on about how he had helped many top Nigerian actresses secure their spots in the industry and how his guys were well placed, He motioned to our staged taxi.
Bode wasted no time steering the vehicle in direction.
"Glory Hotels!" He said
They zoomed off and I lost their signal in seconds. I removed my earphones and heaved a sigh. First stage done and dusted!
I was relieved to be out of the club. Dad was not to know I had been anywhere near a club. He'd be disappointed. He was sound asleep at home only because I told him I would be spending the night at Ifeoma's, for she was around for her brother's wedding and we had a lot of catching up to do. Well, that's just one of the many lines I have crossed in two years since I started work at Laserview.
My phone rang. It was Clara, my boss. I walked across the street and picked her call in front of one of the closed shops across. It was almost 10pm.
"Where the hell are you guys!"
Her deafening shriek made me move inches from the phone, lest I lost my ear.
"They just left. They should be there in about 20 minutes."
"Twenty more minutes? When do we start the actual business?" Louder this time, I felt pity for her voice box, it was suffering much.
"We're really sorry. He walked in rather late."
I replied in a bid to justify our incompetence as she hung up on me. Clara made it a point of duty to tell us how incompetent we were as much as she could. She'd tell us how private intelligence firms in the US would have kicked us out long ago. Like she could do anything in the field. She was very skilled at barking out orders and rating our execution of tasks.
I walked briskly towards our car down the road as I deleted my call history. We had to be squeaky-clean always. Clara wouldn't have you being the hole in the tank should you be kidnapped or be found in some other compromising position.
I noticed a creepy looking guy across the road walking in the same direction as I was. He was looking at me. I made sure to get a good look too, just incase I needed to identify him somewhere. I was in no mood for cock-and-bull stories from a guy who probably had nothing good going on for himself. So I jacked up my pace, got into the car as fast as I could and locked the doors.
He stood there for a second staring at me in the car, then he backed away as I drove off to The Den.
