Chapter 2: Nobody Asked Your Opinion, Jerkface!

JENN knew even before this little incident, that she's crazy. That's the only possible explanation she has on why, after years of experiences on just how far Leslie can go with her pranks and insults, she is now sitting in front of the principal even when she promised years ago to not ever let Leslie get through to her.

She had grown mature and confident since the day she last visited this particular office that every student seem to grow afraid of, and yet, Jenn still felt that bit of uneasiness she had back then.

"Ms. Hastings, have we not discussed this before?" Mrs. Agatha explained patiently. "I've told you, no matter how much Ms. Mase's antics might anger you, you must remember to be the bigger person. Do not stoop down to her level, after all, that's what she'll expect you to do and you wouldn't want to give her any satisfaction, right?"

Jenn squirmed under her scrutinizing stare, but managed to get ahold of herself, protesting, "But ma'am! Shouldn't she be, I dunno, reported or something? Surely her actions broke one or two of the school rules!"

The principal sighed, "Being the head of this school, I'm always informed of everything that happens here, every rumours and problems. And due to my outer persona, which sometimes makes me come off as a strict and generally unlikeable person," She raise her hand upon seeing Jenn ready to protest, "people tend to think of me as unapproacheable."

"But like every principal out there, I care very much for my students and always try to avoid petty fights and rivalry from turning into something much bigger."

Finally understanding, Jenn stated, "You want to avoid something that will only cause more problems."

"I have talked about your situation with Ms. Mase and tried to enlighten her the best way I could. Unfortunately, it seems she didn't take it too seriously, so I'm asking you to be the considerate one and let it go. Can I expect you to do that?"

Jenn felt all the fight flow out of her. She had come inside, all prepared with her counter-arguments, but as always, the principal knows exactly what to say to get Jenn on her side of things. "I'll do my best." She finally responded.

Mrs. Agatha smiled. "And that is all I need from you." She then turned to straightening things out from her desk. Now that Jenn wasn't preoccupied with being nervous and skittish, she finally noticed how things seemed to be in disarray. Files strewn all over the floor while the little lilly on the principal's desk seemed to be in desparate need of water. It doesn't seem like her to make this much mess.

Jenn heard her whispering, "My, my, haven't I told Marina to put these in the cabinet? Seriously, that girl!"

For the tenth time, Jenn wondered if Ms. Ryder, the secretary, is really doing her job. Come to think of it, Jenn didn't see her on the desk in front of the office earlier too. It's a mystery how she even got the job in the first place.

Knowing it was none of her business, Jenn finally decided to just slip out, since she was being dismissed in the first place. She walked out, whistling, surprising a few of the students passing by. According to them, entering that office is like a death sentence, but Mrs. Agatha is not as bad as they think once they get to know her properly. She's even suitable enough to be the guidance counselor.
