It's been a month until I officially began high school -- so about a month and a week since I met Yang.

I suppose we've gotten closer.

Now that I consider her as a friend, it sucks even more than it used to that we have no classes together. I wish I had someone I could waste time passing notes or doing something else particularly unproductive with...

I consider paying attention to the teacher for once, but classes are so drab and boring I doubt I'd actually learn anything. The clock reads 11:30. Five more minutes until lunch. Five more long, long, minutes. And it's Friday, so each minute is more or less like 5 minutes.

My eyes drift to my spiral, which is filled with a crap ton of doodles -- mostly attempted kitten drawings and hearts. I place my pencil on the paper and let my creativity take over. The pencil is guiding me, the led making long, light, wavy lines. It's Yang. I've drawn Yang. Or tried to, at least. I could never truly capture the beauty of that girl on notebook paper.

The person sitting next to me stands up, holding their materials against their chest. They glance at me, and I realize. Class is over. I gather up my things, holding them against my chest just as the student to my right had, and, eyes kept on the floor, I walk out.

Lunch with Yang is the same pretty much every day. We go to our now traditional spot on the grass, sit, and talk about books or family or struggles we had in middle school. Sometimes, when I'm especially tired, Yang will let me rest my head on her shoulder. Being honest, it's my favorite part of the day.

Today is just like as I described, though I don't rest on her shoulder.

"Dammit, we only have ten minutes left. These lunch periods go by way too fast." Yang says as she glances at her phone.

"Yeah..." I sigh, staring up at the clouds.

"It's so cute how you always seem spaced out. What do you even think of? Dirty things?" She comments, teasing me.

"No! I'm not like that, I swear."

"Mhm, yeah."

I lightly poke her and make a face.

"Oh yeah, I wanted to ask you something."

"Okay. Go ahead."

"Wanna sleep over at my house after school today? I have no dad to ask at the moment because he's off on a work trip of some kind, and my sister Ruby is spending the night with some of her friends too, so yeah? As long as your folks are okay with it."

"Sure. Sounds like fun. I don't think my dad or mom will care, they're busy with White Fang Stuff."

This does sound like fun. It'll be my first sleepover.

"I didn't drive to school today, so I can't go pick up my stuff."

"Oh, don't worry, you can borrow some of my stuff. I promise it won't look horrible on you."

"I believe you, and thanks."

Yang picks up her lunch. "Well, I ought to get to class. See you after school!"

"Okay!" I say.

Time won't pass by fast enough after lunch -- a feeling that I'm still getting used to.

I actually have something to look forward to instead of just going home and wasting time doing things that won't, in any way, help me later on. Not that this sleepover will help me get a job or something.... it's just... it feels like now I have a friend who I can live life and do fun, exciting things with. Like I've been wasting my social life away and now Yang is here. I get an indescribable pang of emotion in my chest that lingers, and it makes me smile. A real smile. Right there, in the middle of class. The thought that I may possibly be madly in love with Yang crosses my mind, but I push it to the side.

I meet her at her locker after the school day ends.

"Hey, how were your last classes?"

"Boring, same as always."

A boy and his friends yell "Gay!" at us as they walk by. I ignore this, and Yang does too.

"Let's go." She says.

I practically skip alongside Yang as we head to her house, and I can't help but think that if anyone driving or sitting at a stoplight notices us, they must think Yang and I are dating. I mean, I know that it's pretty much 100% normal for two teenage girls to be out and about and just be close friends, but the way Yang is alert and protective in such a loving way seems to me like something that might give off the This is my girlfriend, so don't touch her and don't harm her, or I will hurt you vibe.

Just a thought.

"You like tuna, right?" Yang teases, waving a can in front of my face.

I gesture to my cat ears. "Take a wild guess."

"Yes. I have no idea how to make tuna though."

I take the can from her hand, open it, drain out the water, and mix the tuna with mayonnaise. "Like that," I say. She smiles and sticks a spoon in the bowl.

"It's all yours, Blake."

We walk to her room. It's quite messy, with papers and clothes strewn over. "So, what to you want to do?" Yang asks.

I wonder.

♡ ♡ ♡

Yang's gorgeous, soft eyes.

My golden eyes.

Her lips.

I lean forward. I can't help it, and its too late and I'm too tired to try and resist my temptation.

She's not backing away.

Our lips lock, and I close my eyes.

Woah.

No, this is wrong. We're just friends. I can't like her and she can't like me.

But I like this.

No, I love it.

A/N: Abrupt ending, I know. It was almost 1k words? Please be proud. I'm sorry this took so long. Once again thank you so much for reading <3
