"Hayden, I'm working late tonight, I left some money on the counter if you need anything." My mom said pulling her hair into a pony tail. I nodded, looking back at the TV.

"Hayden," she said and waited for me to look at her. "I love you."

I gave a small smile and said, "I love you too." She said a goodbye as she walked out the door.  I pulled my phone out and navigate to Instagram and saw my "friends" having another girls night without me.

I heaved a sigh as I got up and pulled my boots on and pulled a sweater on over my dark blue T-shirt. Its getting to be that time of year where its warm during the day and chilly after dark.

I went the only place my feet knew to take me. About a quarter mile into the woods behind my house is a small clearing with a perfect view of the sky. I live about six miles out of town so the lights don't bother the view.

I found a spot on the grass and laid down, putting my earphones in. I found this spot when I was eight. My dad and I were having an adventure and so got lost, and before we knew it, it was already dark. He looked up and he said, "kiddo, if we ever find our way home," and then he chuckled, "this'll be our spot." And I remember looking up and seeing the trillions of stars in the sky, and ever since I've been coming here, even after he died. Its kinda my safe place, even though literally anyone could come and kill me at any time.

I closed my eyes and breathed in the cool fall air. When I opened my eyes a shriek escaped my mouth as two bright blue eyes, that seemed to glow, stared at me. It was Oliver Peirce, the "It" boy. His mouth started moving but my music was to loud to hear what he was saying.

I pulled out my earphones and stared wide eyed as I asked, "what?"

"You know you're on private property right?" He said nonchalantly.

"Oh, I didn't realize. I'll leave." I say and get up and start back towards the house.

"Wait," he said and I turned around. "You can stay. You look like you need someone to talk to." he says.

I took in his persona. He kinda looked sad. Or stressed. Or a little bit of both. "I do? Or you do?"

"We do." He corrects. "I have a blanket." He adds showing me the blue blanket on his folded arms. He spreaded it out on the ground and laid on it. I hesitantly did the same.

After a couple of moments he turns to me and says, "I'm Oliver, by the way."

Already knowing this, because we go to school together I say, "I know," and then realizing how bad that sounds I add, "we have classes together."

"We do?" He asks.

"Yeah, English, History, and PE." I say. "I sound like a complete stalker, I'm so sorry."

"Nah, you don't. I feel horrible for not knowing your name now."

"I'm Hayden." He makes a weird sound, kinda like he's surprised.

"Like, a boy name?" He asks

"Well, yeah. I guess." I say

"Its cool." He says and after that we're silent for awhile, until he asks, "so, what brings you into this neck of the woods at this hour? Aren't you afraid of lions or tigers, or bears?"

"Oh my." I say and he laughs. "I was just lonely."

"I'm sorry, I just don't understand how coming out here makes you, um, not lonely."

"Because, when I'm out here, I feel closer to my dad. He passed away a couple years ago, and this was kinda our favorite place to go." I say with a shrug.

"Oh." He said sounding unsure.

"Yeah, he had a brain tumor." I say letting it hang in the air. "Anyway. What about you? Why are you out here so late?" I ask changing the subject.

"I needed some air. To think." He says.

"About what?" I ask curiously.

"My girlfriend and I and having problems, I think we broke up honestly, but I don't blame her. See I plays three sports, football just ended, but basketball is about to start and then I've been helping this kid with his pitching. I haven't really deserved the world best boyfriend of the year award." He says talking in circles. "I don't know if I'm glad we broke up or sad."

"Do you love her?"

"Who really knows what love is. especially at seventeen. I care for her yeah, but I don't know if I love her. She's just so... Clingy, and needy."

"I'd lie and say I understand what you're going through, but I don't. I've never been in a relationship."

He turns to me with a shocked expression. "What? How come? You're not ugly." He joked.

"Well after my dad died I became homeschooled, and then I started highschool as a sophomore and heck, apparently guys don't even know I exist."

"I'm sorry about that by the way."

I chuckle. " I get it, you're a busy guy." I turned to him, and saw he rolled his eyes.

"I'm not that busy." He said putting emphasis on, that.

"Really its okay. I don't expect everyone to know my name."

Out of the corner of my eye I saw him turn towards me and he stayed like that for a while.

"You're really pretty Hayden." He says calmly. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks as a smile came to my face

After a few moments of me not saying anything he snorts and says, "Well? Aren't you going to tell me I'm pretty, back?" It was obvious he was joking but I turned to him and said with all seriousness,

"You're pretty too, Oliver."

"Oh my god, I know right." he said pretending to be a girl. "And my name's Olivia."

I roll onto my side laughing hard, which made him start laughing hard. And somehow in the hysteria our faces got so close I forgot why I was laughing and all I could think about was his eyes looking back into my eyes.

His eyes are so beautiful. They're like the ocean, and the longer you look into them the more they look like they have actual waves.

We were both breathing heavy from the lack of oxygen, from all the laughing.

"I wanna kiss you right now." He says momentarily glancing at my lips.

"Then do it." I whisper surprising myself. It didn't, however, surprise him, because without hesitation he closes the distance between us, his lips touching mine.

The kiss was soft and sweet, but also full of lust and need. His hand rested on my hip, but started to slowly make its was under my shirt and stop at the middle of my back, the warmth from his hand was sending sparks through my whole body, which made me kiss him harder.

His lips left mine and trailed down to my neck and then back up to my lips. I don't know what bone in my body suddenly got so brave but I reached under his shirt, feeling the hardness of his abs, and I just got this urge to be even closer to him than already. I reached for the hem of his shirt and tugged up, and he broke away to pull it off and then connected out lips back together.

~To spare the details, we went all the way, and for the first time in a long time, I didn't feel so alone in this world. And somehow, I drifted to sleep feeling like the safest person in the world.

A/N

Howdy readers. You like it? The picture is what I picture Oliver as. And love that song, actually I love 99.8% of Ed Sheeran's songs. But I felt that particular one fit witht this chapter.
