@Specteralsteed dared Manx and Xolt to burn off the demented kitten face that the Kapybara shaved into the back of Vaskin's head...Manx glares at the Author and says, "Um...Do you really take me as that cruel? And can't I just refuse to do the dare?"
"Well,..."the Author replies
Manx narrows her eyes. "Do you really think that I meant what I said when I said I'd burn it off?!" She crosses her arms indignantly and gives the Author a cold stare.
Xolt's hand flares up with sparks of electricity as he says, "Come on, Manx! A little fire or lightning won't hurt him."
Manx aims a punch at Xolt's face, but he catches her fist mid blow.
Vaskin enters the room, and Xolt shoots him a mischievous glare. Manx teleports in a wisp of shadows to right in front of Vaskin, blocking Xolt from trying anything.
"What's going on here?" Vaskin asks nervously as Manx stands in front of him. Vaskin backs up into a tall candle, trying to stay out of their way.
"You are not laying a hand on him, Xolt!" Manx growls, shadows flaring around her hands.
"Is someone baking around here?" Vaskin asks, smelling smoke.
"Not now!" Manx snaps, whipping her head around to look at Vaskin. Her eyes widen, and Xolt chuckles.
"What?" Vaskin asks. He then feels something hot on the back of his head and notices that he was standing a little too close to the candle.
"Mother of Pearl!!!!!!!!" Vaskin screams, realizing that his hair caught fire. He begins waving his arms frantically and running around in circles. Manx eyes the Author's glass of water, before grabbing it and chasing after Vaskin. Xolt laughs as Manx splashes Vaskin with the water, ending up soiling the front of his pants instead of putting out the fire. Manx grabs Vaskin by the tail with one hand and starts patting out the fire with her other hand.
Manx watches in horror as the fire spreads to her fingertips and she burns her hand.
"Sit still you moron!" Manx snaps at Vaskin. "You're making it worse!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH! It burns!" Vaskin screams.
"Xolt, stop standing there and get a bucket of water!" Manx yells.
Xolt is unresponsive as he is on the floor laughing so hard he can hardly breathe. Manx notices a pillow in the corner by the chair where the Author is sitting and she frantically yanks it off the floor and hits Vaskin over the head with it. Manx holds the pillow over his head as Vaskin whimpers like a dying puppy. It is at that exact moment that the door creaks open and Ravenna walks into the room.
"Why is Manx holding a pillow onto Vaskin's head, Why does Xolt sound like a walrus in labor, and um..." Ravenna asks, looking at the bizarre situation. Manx gives her a deathly glare and Ravenna says, "Okay...I'm just gonna' leave now." before slamming the door and running away.
"Out!" Manx yells, glaring at Xolt and the Author.
Vaskin starts to walk away, but she grabs him by the tail and says firmly, "You stay!"
"But..." Vaskin says, relieved to have the fire out.
"Shut up!" Manx growls.
The Author pulls Xolt to his feet and shoves him out the door, closing it behind her and putting her ear to it so she can listen intently to what happens next.
Vaskin turns a shade of beet red as Manx looks him in the eye.
"Don't touch the candles!" Manx says, glowering.
"I..er...I backed into it!" Vaskin replies.
Manx raises a hand to slap him, before she grabs him by the shoulders and gives him a peck on the cheek.
"Will you never learn?" Manx whispers in his ear. Vaskin shrugs, knowing that was a rhetorical question.
Later that day, Vaskin looked in the mirror to find that the kitten had been burned clean off.
Khashmyr is eternally grateful nobody dared anyone to burn her fur yet...
