Chapter 1

I wake up on my room and I find that Themis is asleep by my side. Her face still wet from tears. She rarely sleeps with me anymore. She must be really scared and uncomfortable.
-Sis, wake up. We have to go.
T-A bit more.
-We have to go, let's start good.
T-Don't leave.
-Don't worry baby sister. I'll be by your side the whole time and I promise I'll protect you with my life. Now, go get ready. I go after you.
T-Thank you.
-You're welcome.
We get ready and as we eat our breakfast we hear a knock on the door.
-Who is it?
C-Cerberus.
In an instant Themis is standing on the door.
T-Hey, is so good to see you.
C-Likewise, is your brother here?
-In the kitchen.
C-Ready for your first day?
T-Yes.
-I almost had to throw you off of the bed.
T-Not true. I'm an early bird.
-If you say so. So I guess you are in trouble.
C-No I'm not.
-Tell me. Father wouldn't let you wander off from the gate if you weren't in trouble.
C-Fine, I guess you could call it that but is really a misunderstanding. I was trying to help someone.
-How is he doing?
C-No one has seen him or your mother since you came here.
-How do they get their work done?
C-They have been passing the papers from below the doors. At least that's what Persephone told me.
T-I'm finished. Where are we going?
C-Shopping for groceries and some clothes for school.
T-Clothes! Come on, we don't have much time.
C-Osiris, do we shop the clothes first. That can get some time and the food can get damaged while waiting for her if you catch my drift.
-Yes I know. Women.
As we walk down the street Cerberus asks me about Themis's powers.
C-Hey, um, how powerful is she?
-Who Themis?
C-No, the queen of England of course Themis.
-Well, I don't really know.
C-What do you mean?
-I've never seen her use her aura before, at least in full power. Only see her do silly little things. A spark here a spark there and that's it. But she has incredible precision. She's excellent at swordfighting and the bow and arrows.
C-She doesn't use her aura that much. Interesting and she's still that powerful?
T-Oh my, look at this dress. Is so cute. I'm going in and try it on.
C-Wait for us.
-Themis.
When we enter the store she's already on the fitting rooms. So Cerberus and I wait for her to come out.
T-This is so cute, tell me how I look.
-You have to come out so we can see you.
T-Oh right, here. What do you think?

C-Don't you think that's too revealing?
T-I like it.
-Father won't like it.
T-I like it, besides he's not here so he can't tell me to not do it.

T-I want it.

T-Fine, take a picture and send it to him. I'll try some more while he answers.

Not even a minute has passed when Themis's phone starts ringing.
T-Yes?

T-Fine, I won't get it.
She hangs up. And toss her phone to me.
T-We're leaving. I'm not in the mood to shop anymore.
Cerberus and I look at each other as she goes and changes to her clothes. We exit the store in silence. We walk and walk and after a couple minutes I speak.
-You looked good in that dress.
She looks back at me and smiles but keeps walking without a word. When we turn a corner a man bumps into her and Themis pins him down to the wall with an arm on his head and the other one holding his hand behind his back in a twisted position. Themis has a look on her eyes like she's a different person. We run up to her.
T-Did you just touch me?
Stranger-Not on purpose, I swear. It was by accident, I didn't saw you coming. I'm sorry, please let go.
-She's going to kill him.
C-No she's not.
Cerberus goes behind her and knocks her out and checks on the man before letting him go.
-Cerberus...
C-Home, now.
Halfway home Themis wakes up.
T-Osiris? What?
-Cerberus knocked you out after you almost killed a man.
T-Sorry, you can put me down now. Did you got the food?
I shake my head.
-But dad called. He told me to get you a similar dress to the one you got.
T-Really?
-He said you can show below the knee only.
I see as her eyes glow with joy.
-You're happy now?
T-Much. I'll thank him next time we contact him. Cerberus, what's next on the list? Is everything for school ready? We do start tomorrow.
C-Yes, the only thing you need to worry about is studying. Classes start tomorrow at nine in the morning until three in the evening. From Monday through Friday.
T-All five days?
C-Yes, all five days. Nemean will pass by tomorrow and Orthrus the next day and then other monsters and demigods along with some humans.
T-This is going to be harder than I imagined.
C-You'll manage, after all, you're a smart girl.
T-Lady. Smart lady.
C-Yes, lady. Are you hungry?
T-Yes I am. Can we go some place nice?
C-I know a place, is not fancy but the food is, delicious. They give you big portions.
-Sounds good. Your treat?
C-Of course is my treat, after all, I'm your guardian for today. Do you want to go to my place for the evening?
-We don't have spare clothes. On the weekend?
C-You're welcome anytime.
T-Thank you. Woah.
C-Easy. No use in rushing.
We get to the restaurant in about half an hour later. As we enter I smell the fresh made food everywhere.
-Mmm, if it's as tasty as it smells I think I could eat everything.
T-Not if I finish first.
We hurry to a table and start reading through the menu the different choices. A waitress comes to take our order and Cerberus orders.
C-Give me three usuals triple sized.
She looks at him and us in surprise and then retires to get our food.
T-What's the usual?
C-A surprise. Did you saw the look on her face?
-Priceless. Like when mom concentrates or a surprised dad.
C-So, how have you been?
-Fairly good.
C-Boring being with Hades all the time?
T-Of course not, the opposite actually.
-He really knows how to have a good time.
C-When he focuses on something he puts his all into it.
Cerberus and I keep talking until I feel something on my shoulder. When I look down I see Themis has fallen asleep.
