After you made sure your Romulan "friend" wasn't going to bother you anymore, you ran to Malcolm. The moment he saw you, as much as he didn't want to admit, he started crying.

"Y/N! I... I suppose there's no use in asking you questions right now." He said. He wanted tu hug you. He wanted to kiss you. He wanted you to forget about what he did.

"You're absolutely right." You tried to sound a bit mad and aggressive, just so he didn't think that he made up for what he did. "I want to slap you so hard right now for what you did, but we don't have time for that."

You untied his hands and legs and helped him stand up. After you inspected his wounds, you handed him a phase pistol from your pocket.

"You're gonna need this. We're not leaving survivors here." You instructed him.

You turned around, ready to go back , but Malcolm grabbed your arm and turned you back to face him.

"Don't do this to me." He whispered.

"You don't expect me to forgive you this fast, do you?" You tried to free yourself, but he didn't let you.

"You wouldn't be here if you didn't. Listen, you know I only did this because I wanted to protect you. It was as painful for me as it was for you, remember that. And I realized that I was wrong." He was agitated, he wanted your relationship to return to normal. You wanted the same thing; you were just playing hard to get.

"Malcolm, save this for when we get back to the shuttle-" You were cut short by his lips pressing to yours. It was a feeling that you missed more than anything.

When he broke the kiss, both of you smiled faintly.

"Let's go." He said as he took your hand in his.

When you got back to the shuttle, you departed as fast as you could. After you left the planet's orbit, Malcolm put you shuttlepod on autopilot and turned towards you.

"I love you. And I know it's a lot to ask, but forgive me. You know me better than anyone, so you understand that I thought this would be the best, but I regret it." As he said that, you remembered Trip saying that this would be Malcolm's reaction.

"Malcolm, I wouldn't be here if I wasn't willing to forgive you. But it'll take time for me to trust you as much as I did. How am I supposed to know you won't do this again?"

He didn't answer. He just stared in your eyes, a few tears dripping down his cheek. From that moment on you couldn't keep playing hard to get.

You jumped from your chair to his lap and wrapped your arms around his neck. He curled his around your waist, waiting for you to say something. You pressed you forehead against his, lips almost touching.

"Don't ever do this to me again." Your breath wafted over his lips. A few tears rushed down your face, too, but Malcolm quickly wiped them away with his thumb. "I can't live without you."

"What do you say, we try to forget about this and pick up from where we left off?" He pecked your lips softly.

"There is one slight problem." You frowned. "The Admiral's direct orders were to not attempt to rescue you, so I'll probably get stripped from my rank, get court martialed and sent back to Earth."

"Then I'll go back with you and defend you." He pulled you as close to him as he could, not planning to let you go, ever.

"My hero." You chuckled.

"No," He said. "You're my hero. You risked you life to save me. I owe you one."

"You would've done the same. Besides, you owe me many things." You smiled and leaned in to kiss him.
