Making Your OC Useful

Your OC shouldn't be there just to follow Bellamy around and steal his lines. Do this.

Step 1: Understand your OC.
See my chapter on how to make your OC not suck. Basically just make sure that you know what your character stands for, and their personality.

Step 2: Think like them.
If your OC is saying things completely out of character, then they won't be very believable. Let's say your OC's name is Ryland. Ryland killed someone when she was on the Ark, and killed grounders. When Bellamy brings Lincoln back, she sides with Octavia. THIS MAKES NO SENSE! Like I get if your OC is a peace lover, or maybe their friend is Octavia, or maybe they think everyone deserves a chance, but randomly? I know it's hard, and you want your OC to be perfect, but they'll be more likable if you keep them in character.

Step 3: Give them their own lines.
I think this one just speaks for itself.

Step 4: Make them contribute to the story.
If your OC just sits around, then the story is just the 100 with some random character. Add some things! Make it funny, change a character! I don't know, it's your story.

Step 5: Give them flaws that are visible.
This way, people can understand them better. It will help you to develop the story, and give them original stories and scenes.
