I feel peace in the rain; the way it washed away everything unclean and almost set the world anew. I was new, this was my fresh start. I was no longer the disgusted creature my family tormented and experimented on every chance they got.

I was now Sang Sorenson. A made up name for a made up girl.

I was a werewolf, an abomination in the eyes of my parents. Or at least, that's what they told me. My father and stepmother were werewolf hunters, somehow obtaining me and using me as their sick and twisted experiments. My body was riddled with silver streaking scars, and strange little tattooed runes. I didn't know what they meant exactly, but I knew it told Hunters what I was.

I escaped this morning, having attacked Marie as she came in to give me my breakfast. I don't know whether I killed her or not, I haven't checked to see if my eyes shifted from red to steel blue. But right now, I stood in front of the abandoned home in Sunnyvale Court, that I was going to obtain tomorrow.

I was still bleeding, because of the fact I was injected with Wolfsbane. My wolf was dormant, barely hanging on from the amount of silver inside of me. I heard barking coming near me as I staggered down the road, desperately trying to make it to the home. All I had to do was make it into my new home, and I was safe.

All of the sudden, my breath was knocked out of me as I fell upon the hard ground. I growled as loudly as possible when I felt the fur, but as I looked up, it wasn't another wolf. Instead, a large golden retriever sat on my chest as I tried to suck in a ragged breath.

"Max, heel!" A deep voice cut through the hard rain, the dog jumping off of me quickly as footsteps pounded closer.

I could barely breath, the huge stab wound in my side pouring out blood. That's not even including all the other cuts that litter my body, nor the internal bleeding I'm sure I have. I'll be fine once the silver is out and my wolf comes back, but until then, I'm stuck in agony.

"Ma'am? Are you alright?" My eyes shift up, to find striking emerald eyes looking down at me.

It's only in the street light that I can see him. His dark hair is cropped short, with unmarred skin that covers his six foot frame. He has dark rimmed glasses covering his eyes, and looks like what people would usually call a 'nerd'.

But I'm not stupid, I know what he is.

"Mate." It's a whisper to the night, to the moon goddess. A plea that he is real, that he is right in front of me, and that I'm not dreaming and actually still on the lab table at home.

My body reacts almost immediately, warming up and sending little shocks through my skin as his touch grazes my forearm. I watch his eyes widen as mine roll back, unconsciousness fleeting. The only thing I even vaguely remember before falling into the darkness, is that my mate is human, and he has pulled out a cellphone.

Kota POV

My eyes widen as hers close, my cell phone pressing against my ear as I redline each and every one of my brothers. I'm terrified, for what I don't quite know, but as I soon as I saw the mystery figure of this woman staggering down the road I knew something was wrong.

Max knocking her down wasn't my best feat, in fact, it probably was insane of me to do. But it wasn't until I actually got to her that I realized she was bleeding. The blood was pooling at an alarming rate when Sean picked up his phone and Nathan sprinted from his house, his eyes widening as he looked at the small girl on the ground.

She was tiny, maybe five feet or so, with long blonde hair and a slightly upturned nose. I couldn't tell much about her, except for the ratty clothes, and the fact she smelt like death and blood. I knew that wherever she came from, couldn't have been good.
