Lost Island

* It's been a nice sunny day, riding in a white speed boat keeping its pace with the wave. This was my first day at work as a reporter.*

On my first day being a reporter,  I was a bit nervous, but then I saw the nice blue open sea staying as calm as it could ever be. I forgot about me being nervous at first but then the old man with a dirty white shirt came up to me and said,

" Why are you coming to this island anyways there is nothing worth taking picture of."

" Oh no I'm not a tourist I'm a reporter, I'm going to work at the laboratory where..."

The old man interrupted me.

" Up the mountain... yes I know where it is"

I thought to myself why did he interrupt me? and so he continued..

" Trust me I know, there was many mysterious things going on there. "

Mysterious things? What is this man talking about?!?!

While I was thinking, I said something out loud.

"What mysterious things?"

He was shocked when I first said that.

" You don't know? Well you have much to learn about this island, you see...this island was supposively cursed by the mountain. "

" The mountain cursed pfff... Yea right"

" I'm not joking, many villagers had disappeared when the government built that stupid laboratory there."

" Why did the government build the laboratory on top of the mountain."

" They found this era in the mountain and when they were going deeper in the mountain the era gets stronger and stronger, so they can study the era in the mountain."

Meanwhile, my stomach started to get butterflies.

" It's probably sea sick... don't worry, once you get to the island you will be fine."

Suddenly, we had felt a bump on the boat. We stopped the engine of the boat and ran towards the place where it got hit. There was a dead body floating in the middle of the sea. How is a dead body end up here? I thought to myself, is this one of the missing villagers?  No it can't be... can it?

When I was going to grab the body, suddenly the old man grabbed me and said to me cautiously face to face,

" Don't touch the dead you fool! You will become one of them if u do!"

I was struggling to speak to him.

" But...but... I was just going to bring the body..."

The old man interrupted me before I can say anything else.

" I said not to touch it and we are not bringing that body in my boat!"

" OK OK fine just calm down"

He slowly started to count down to ten, while he was counting; I was thinking about what he said earlier. None of this doesnt connect to the cursed mountain and the missing villagers. How could a body end up here if it was a missing villager?

As soon as we started the engine of the speed boat, we had left the body behind in the sea. Something about the old man...why did he say I was going to turn to one of them if I touched it? Did he know something else that I didn't know about the island?

Finally, we've made it to shore and everything seemed normal. I needed some directions in how to go to the laboratory.  So I asked a woman with a plain blue tank top and a tanned color caprice. Meanwhile the old man was sailing off shore I managed to ask the woman standing by a building.

" Uumm... excuse me ma'am can you help me?"

" Oh yes, how can I help you... huh I never seen you around here before, are you new here?"

" Actually yes, I am new here... I'm going to work at the laboratory and..."

She interrupted me before I can finish.

" LABORATORY! Why in the hell would you work at the damn LABORATORY! Can't you see we have enough problems already! "

" But..."

" Go on shoo! leave! Go back where you came from!"

As soon as she left, I remembered what the old man told me about this place. So I thought to myself in a bad mood, nice way to make friends Roxanne... I just got here and I have someone who hates me already. When I was thinking about the island I bumped into someone.

" I'm so sorry I was just lost in thought that I didn't even see you coming."

Once I finished talking I immediately looked up and saw a tall man.
