No matter how many times you try to calm your nerves and think that maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to survive one date without pulling a sweat, we all know that in the end it never is this way.
You may be all composed and shit, thinking over and over how it's just a normal girl, just a normal date, and it happens to everyone. Yet, just the sight of her makes you want to run away before something stupid comes out of your mouth -or body- and you ruin the whole thing.
It was no different for me. No matter how focused I was on the blinking lights or on all the carnival games, nothing could ever prepare me for the moment I saw her. In that above-knee length baby blue laced dress with her beige ballet flats and her auburn hair slightly straightened, as flouncy as ever. (photo on the side, let's pretend it's baby blue and lace, yes?)
On the outside I might have been perfectly composed, a small smile beginning to display on my lips as I contemplated her completely. In the inside, however, it was almost as if I was mentally sweating. I could only focus on her satin-like skin, her full pink lips, her incredible blue eyes. She was, in all ways, beautiful.
"I thought you wouldn't be here that early," she points out as she reaches my side and kisses my cheek softly.
"I'm a man of my word," I answer, then add, "and you look beautiful."
"I also thought you wouldn't be one to hand out compliments," she completes, but I know she blushes at my choice of words.
"Guess I had you fooled," I smirked slowly, turning around so we could start walking around the fair grounds.
"Nice move, Liam Payne." Alex swiftly took my upper arm, trailing her fingertips along the skin. We started making our way down the main walkway, surrounded by lights and strangers and hidden shadows everywhere. Yet, the only thing I noticed was her and her sweet flower perfume that had me in a trance.
"It amuses me," I started softly.
"What does?" she pondered as she heard me talk again.
"The way you speak."
Turning to me, she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"How do I speak?" she inquired.
"It's as if you don't have a filter. You say everything that's on your mind the moment it's there," I replied. Alex smiled, her gaze back on the outside as she pulled me to keep walking.
"I have so much to teach you," she murmured, pulling me closer to her. "See, if I try to please everybody and select only the most appropriate thoughts to say out load, then I wouldn't be pleasing myself. But as I say everything that I think, I please myself, knowing that whoever stays with me will stay because they want to, not because I please them."
I couldn't help but smile widely as her words made their way into my head. She had a way to daze me with everything she said, making me think highly of her and her intellect. "That's a fair way to look at things."
"I try to think everything through, even if it doesn't seem like it," she smiled.
"Think right now then. Where do you want to go first?" I turned to her.
Slowly licking her lower lip and biting it shortly after, her eyes gleamed under the twinkling lights above. "Let's go on the gigantic spool that spins clockwise and carries cylindrical pods."
"You mean, the ferris wheel?" I asked a minute or so later, putting her odd description together.
"It's a good thing you understand me, Liam Payne," she laughed as she pulled me towards the ride.
[…]
It wasn't long until we got inside one of those "cylindrical pods" and we got carried away by the ferris wheel. The night was just beginning to set as we made our way up, the whole city coming into view. As the ride stopped to let more passengers on, Alex let her gaze wonder through the night sky and stars, her lips slightly parted as her blue eyes took everything in.
"Can I tell you what's beautiful?" I found myself whispering.
"What is?" she whispered back.
I took a look at the rest of my surrondings before letting my eyes fall on her once again.
"What's beautiful is the fact that you seek beauty in everything, yet you lack the ability to see it in what I think is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
She smiled, her lips been pulled at slightly as she turned to me. "And what is that?"
"You."
I can see the way her cheeks turn a soft crimson-like color, her eyes closing momentarily before looking at me again, but there's something in her eyes now, something I can't quite place. Something I have never seen before in those blue irises that seemed to haunt me even in my dreams. Something unexplicable yet evident to anyone.
Desire.
And as she leaned in, closing the distance between us, her voice dropped to what seemed like the quietest tone she could use as her lips tenderly grazed mine. "You're unbelievable."
Her lips then procedeed to envelop mine, moving softly and ever so slowly as if to test the gestures. So shy and magnificent, just a taste of true heaven invading my senses. And her arms wrapped slowly around my neck, pulling herself closer to me, her body radiating warmth. I drape her waist with my arms and gently lift her to then set her on my lap. She detached her mouth from my own, taking a hushed breath to fill her body with oxygen.
Her hands swiftly moved to my cheeks, cupping my face as her slender fingers rubbed against my skin. She smiled, a heart warming, wide grin then drove her bottom lip in between her teeth, biting it.
"You have no idea how long I've waited to do that."
