I ran through the streets while desperately trying to cover my hair from the pelting rain.
Trying to not think about what my boss would say, I could already make my guesses and I was pretty sure yelling would be involved. Quickly turning down a street, I hurriedly ducked in to my favorite cafe before shaking the wet hair clinging to my forehead. The bell chimed as I made my way through the door and I paused, smiling to appreciate the sweet aroma of coffee that instantly hit me.
Plopping down in my usual seat at the coffee bar, I more than happily accepted the hot mug that was already waiting for me. Mumbling a quick word of thanks before bringing the mug to my lips, a content sigh left my lips as the bittersweet taste of coffee flowed into my mouth.
"Your hair and clothes are completely soaked."
"I know, it's practically a thunderstorm outside." I grumbled, happily taking another sip of my coffee.
"And yet, you ran through it just to come see me?"
I scoffed as I pointed towards my cup. "Not you, your coffee."
Xiumin huffed, pretending to be angry as I laughed, trying to contain the cold shivers that were creeping through my skin. His brows furrowed in concern as he leaned over the counter to refill my mug. I flashed him another grateful smile before glancing around to observe the cafe.
It was midday, which meant that most people were still at work, but Xiumin's cafe was the best - and people always flocked in no matter what time of the day it was.
"How's work?" He asked, leaving the counter to settle into the bar seat beside me before propping his chin on his fist.
"Work is stressful as usual, I'm actually running late but..." I took another long sip of my coffee before reluctantly setting it back down on the counter in front of me.
"He's going to kill you." Xiumin chuckled, reaching out to lightly graze his fingers through my tangled hair.
I glumly nodded, about to answer, but stopped when the sound of my phone rang through my bag.
Speak of the devil.
Hastily fishing my phone out, I cringed before letting out a small huff at the flashing text message.
Get here. Now.
Xiumin knowingly smirked at my panicked expression and tousled my hair before standing up from his seat.
"I'll get you some coffee to go."
I watched him disappear behind the bar and turned my attention to the sudden excited chatter from the other end of the restaurant. Customers were watching the TV that perched from the ceiling, and my ears perked in interest as I tried to hear the music program that was playing on the screen.
"And now we go to the most famous singing duo in Korea! Since their debut six years ago, they surely have come a long way in success - is there anything you guys want to say to your fans?"
Squeals echoed through the cafe as the TV screen panned in on a young man's face as he bowed and began to speak. I softly smiled, not listening to his words, but focusing my ears on the sound of his voice.
It's been... So long.
The squeals erupted once more at the sound and sight of another young man speaking beside the first.
