It lit up the world like it was a match to a candle. The colours that exploded through the sky as something marvelous happened. It took my breath away as I looked up, trying to capture everything I could down on the sketch book in front of me. The rays of sun shone out from behind the cloud, illuminating it orange against the vibrant blue, purple and pink sky. The clouds a brilliant white, making it look even more beautiful, lined with the amazing glow from the sun. Birds flying across the horizon setting the mood. Along the horizon also was a blue sea, now coloured by the sunset that was takin place before my eyes, on the right were mountains, looking like the trees were ablaze in a wonderous, all consuming fire and on the left was a vast emptiness, looking like you could just fall off the edge of the earth is you got that far.
I bought in a sharp intake of breath as the light faded and was replaced by darkness, me not paying much attention, determined to finish this before heading back t that terrible place I dare to call home.
I finished as complete darkness was lost by the brilliant moon, now illuminating the world. I leaned back in the chair and cracked my neck, looking over the drawing, trying to find faults that I needed to fix up. There were some but they were all completely necessary to capture the true beauty of what I had just seen. It was hours ago now, but the image still burned bright in my mind.
"Wow. That's amazing."
Someone whispered behind me, making me jump and face them. He was beautiful, his hazel eyes shining in a smile that was most definitely evident on his face. A smile that was too big, taking up every other possible room on his face. It was goofy and showed through his features. His dark blonde hair, fell almost over his brilliant eyes, as the moon made it shine almost like a halo around his head. I looked away from his features and looked him down as I bought my eyes to look at my feet.
"I-uhh-thanks." I said, smiling back up at him.
He was easily six-foot something and he had broad, tanned shoulders- which was normal here in Australia, as the heat was intensified- his smile grew a little bitter as he let out a small giggle. "My name's Ashton." he said holding his hand out to me.
"Callie." He smiled down at me
"Can I sit?" he motioned to the chair in front of me.
I nodded "Yeah sure." I could tell he knew I wasn't quite fully Australian and that made his eyes crinkle and his dimples deepen.
"How long have you been in Australia for?" He asked, tipping his head to the side a little.
"Uhm, I was born here. I just kind of picked it up from my mum and grandma when I was younger." I said, looking down and blushing.
He laughed and shook his head, "That's great."
I shrugged "Yeah I guess you can say that."
"Ah, your accent has gone!" he said, pointing out that my fake British accent was gone.
I shook my head, laughing "No it isn't. I don't speak like that with all words. It's basically just a few words that I have heard frequently in that accent and I pick it up."
He smirked "Okay, that makes more sense."
There was a small silence before I broke it.
"So what do you do Ashton?" I asked, biting into a chip that had now gone almost ice cold.
"Uhm, I'm in a band, actually." His smile grew and his eyes sparkled with happiness.
"Oh really? That's great! What are you guys called?" he looked at me confused a little and then looked down at the table.
