Chapter 4

40 5 7

                                                                                                                                                                                                Date: 5th April

                                                                                                                                                                                                Year: 1953

Six years.

She had waited for six years now.

She had lost all track of time and the track of the world around her. The only thing she knew was the date. It was fifth of April, their anniversary and yet again she was wearing the black and blue polka dotted dress.

The prepared cake lay on the table, waiting beside the surprise present. The sun had set and the moonlight was shining brightly giving the room light illumination. But he hadn’t come, he didn’t come.

She was sitting in front of the piano like she did every time and looking outside the window. She could imagine herself in his arms and the last kiss that they had shared together.  ‘This is my fate’ she thought.

She suddenly stopped playing the piano bringing the room back to its original silence and stood up. She slowly walked towards the door and opened it. Leaning on the rim of the door, she whispered, “I give up!”

A tear rolled down her cheek, for she had realized that this was it. She couldn’t wait anymore. She was stupid to think that she could wait forever and their love wouldn’t change a bit.

***

He had lost two friends in the battlefield. One of them was his own roommate. He was back in his own room which was now unfortunately empty. ‘This is life’ he thought, ‘this is my fate.’

He slowly walked towards his bed and sat down. He took a picture from underneath the pillow and looked at it. She was smiling at him from the picture so he sadly smiled back. She was in her black and blue polka dotted dress; he remembers buying that for her.

He would mumble every time but this time he spoke out aloud.

“I won’t give up on us”

             . . .

“Even if the skies get rust”

             . . .

“I am giving you all my love”

             . . .

“I am still looking up”

He knew he was mistaken when he thought that their love would change over the years. In fact it had become even stronger according to him. He loved her more than ever and he was sure that she would be feeling the same right now.

*End*

 Hello!

I have based this story on two songs (which you probably have already heard them.)

1. Say something by A great big world and Chritina Aguilera

2. I won't give up on us by Jason Mraz

I'd be glad to get a review or comment.

Hope you guys liked it! :)
