Laura took control of her tablet updating them of the news from the hitching post. They thought it was a joke until they re-watched it. They would alert the other teams around the planet to start evacuation process. They couldn’t fight as no one brought weapons to this planet. The moment they wished they involved the Earth’s military in this program.

“So, where do we go now? They’ll think to look at our campsite.” Laura stated as they stood in the evening light looking around the place. There wasn’t any sign of Greg, Savannah or whatever the hell alien thing near by. Robert and Dean looked at her lost with what they should do next. It wasn’t everyday that you meet an alien and then have to run for your life.

“We can go around a long as hell trip toward the hitching post. Just tell them we’re coming. Just taking an alternative route.”

“Less humans, less to kill.” Robert mumbled as he started in the wide-around their campsite trip toward the hitching post.

“We have three hours to get there.” Laura reported after ten minutes of walking, “I will be recording our adventure, once the film hits an hour it’ll be sent to Ztech. The hitching post has already sent a copy of what I sent them. And I am already sending that, too.

They got there in three hours and five minutes. They stood staring at the shining lights in the sky, the vehicles taking everyone back to Earth. On any other day , it would have looked beautiful, instead it was heart wrenching to watch knowing everyone else was gone.

Laura stretched her arms out with her tablet to broadcast all the departures, making sure it was know that they weren’t there with the rest of the crews. Toward the end it was her with her saucy language and some things she said, Robert was sure wasn’t even real words.

“What do we do now?”

“There is an emergency vehicle in the Hitching Post.” Laura motioned them in the direction, “It only seats two.”

Robert and Dean both stared at her. Dean, for all his self-preservation speeches seemed conflicted with this information.

“They think they’ve killed me. I’m a dead person in their books. They won’t think to look for a dead person.”

“But you’re no longer where they left you --” Robert started, she shrugged.

“Well, neither are you.” She pointed out with a mournful smile, “it is a year to get back. Make damn sure you come back for me.”

“I will stay.” Robert argued.

“Thanks for the offer but no. Now go.” She waved.

So they did. Slowly at first but they quickened their steps in the direction she pointed to. It wasn't on the maps so they hoped she was right.

“I can operate this.” Dean sighed, tension released from him.

“I didn't know that that would be something we'd worry about.”

“Let's go.”

And, so they did.
