Through the door, you enter a hallway. Once again, you were greeted by Bloomy.
"You spared her? Why?" he asks. "You know one day you will meet a monster who will not offer you his mercy, you'll have no option but to fight. Or die.
"So don't get used to sparing everyone because one day, you'll have no choice." With that in mind, the flower went back underground and you continued on your journey walking the rest of the way out of the garden.
Outside, you walk into a forest with trees of red, orange, and yellow leaves. Walking along the path, you wonder how it's even possible to grow trees in an underground environment. Just the thought of it sends you a sudden chill.
Along the path, you come across a big tree branch. It's too big for you to carry, so you just leave it there and move on.
After about a few steps past the branch, you hear a snap from behind. You turn around to see that the branch was broken in half, but no one was there.
A few more steps and you began to hear footsteps. Feeling like you're being watched, you turn around again, but still no one was there.
Pushing ahead, you come across a fence that was shorter than your legs. Just as you were about to cross over it, you hear a voice that stops you in your tracks.
"H u m a n..." It said in a low voice. "D o n ' t y o u k n o w h o w t o g r e e t a n e w f r i e n d?" It sticks its hand out.
"T u r n a r o u n d, a n d s h a k e m y h a n d."
Slowly, you turn around and see a black figure standing there with its arm outstretched. Shakily, you reach out and shake its hand.
Pffffbbbt! You heard which surprised you. Light shown on the figure and it turned out to be a skeleton with short brown hair wearing a t-shirt and a jacket with dark blue sleeves and a light blue torso over it, black and white basketball shorts, and black shoes.
"Ha." It said in a female voice. "The ol' electronic whoopee cushion in the hand trick. It's always funny." You grin at the sight of the humorous joke and she grins along with you.
"I'm Kens. Kens the skeleton. You're a human, aren'cha? That's adorable. I'm supposed to be on sentry duty right now. You know, lookin' for humans and stuff. But I don't really care about capturing anyone.
"Now my brother Nikolas, he's a human-huntin' lunatic!" Her gaze looks beyond you. "Actually, I think that's him right over there." She points and you look in her direction to see another skeleton in the distance with shorter brown hair wearing a light blue shirt with teeth on it, a green ascot, dark blue shorts, green boots, and white gloves.
"C'mon, step over this here fence. Yeah, my brother made it too short to stop anyone." You and Kens both stepped over the fence and continued along the way to a wide open space.
"He's coming." Kens said. "Quick, behind that conveniently shaped tombstone." You ran to the tombstone as fast as you could and waited. Nikolas approached.
"'Sup, Bro?"
"YOU KNOW WHAT'S UP, SISTER." Nikolas said. "IT'S BEEN 3 DAYS AND YOU STILL HAVEN'T RECALIBRATED YOUR PUZZLES. YOU JUST SIT AROUND OUTSIDE YOUR STATION! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
"Staring at this tombstone." She gestures to where you were hiding. "It's cool. You wanna look?"
Was she flaking out on me? You thought.
"NO!! I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT!!" Nikolas shouts. "WHAT IF A HUMAN COMES THROUGH HERE?!? I NEED TO BE READY! I WANT TO BE THE ONE! I'M GOING TO CAPTURE A HUMAN! THEN, I, THE NIMBLE NIKOLAS... WILL GET EVERYTHING THAT I DESERVE! RESPECT... RECOGNITION... I'LL FINALLY BE ABLE TO JOIN THE ROYAL EAGLES! PEOPLE WILL LOOK UP TO ME AS THEIR ROLE MODEL. I'LL BATHE IN A SHOWER OF KISSES EVERY MORNING."
"Hmm... Maybe this tombstone could help you." Kens says.
"KENS!! YOU'RE NOT HELPING! LAZYBONES! ALL YOU DO IS SIT AND DAYDREAM!! YOU GET MORE AND MORE ZONED OUT EVERYDAY!!!"
"Whoa, take it easy." Kens said defensively raising her hands up. "I've helped a ton. A skele-ton."
You giggle silently so you wouldn't give yourself away.
"KEEENNSSS!!!!!" Nikolas shouts.
"C'mon, you're smiling..."
"I AM AND I HATE IT!" He sighs. "WHY DOES SOMEONE LIKE ME HAVE TO DO SO MUCH TO GET SOME ATTENTION?"
"Gee, sounds like you've been working yourself..." She pauses. "Down to the bone."
You giggle quietly again.
Nikolas grunts. "I'LL ATTEND TO MY PUZZLES... AND AS FOR YOU? PUT YOUR 'BACKBONE' INTO IT. KYAHAHAHA!" He leaves but returns back with a "HA!" and then leaves again.
"Okay." Kens said. "You can come out now." You come out from behind the tombstone.
"You better get going. He might come back. And if he does..." She pauses. "You'll have to sit through more of my hilarious jokes."
You thank Kens for her help. You checked out a sentry station near the tombstone. It had ranch, marinara sauce, and mozzarella cheese sitting inside. Then, you began to leave.
"Actually, hey..." Kens says stopping you. "Hate to bother you, but could you do me a favor? I was just thinking, my brother's been kinda down lately. He's never actually seen a human before. And seeing you might just make his day.
"Don't worry, he's not dangerous. Even if he tries to be. Thanks a bunch. I'll be up ahead." Then she leaves in a different direction.
