Hold Me So I'm Not Falling Apart

“Grey Goose got your girl feeling loose,” Este sings loudly and terribly off key while carrying a tray of shots to the VIP area of the club. She hands one to each of her sisters and looks at them expectantly.

“Drink up.”

Danielle grimaces and stares down at the shot pitifully. There’s absolutely no way she can handle a shot right now. Alana’s already downed hers (of course) and so has Este. She takes a small sip and passes the rest off to Alana when Este takes her empty shot glass to the bar. “Don’t tell.”

“I won’t,” Alana grins. The more alcohol for her the better.

The club is already almost at max capacity. They’ve been playing lots of different songs and the crowd is loving it. It’s almost 11 and Danielle’s ready for bed. She’s barely made any effort to smile but no one seems to mind or notice.

Este comes back with a glass of water and sips it slowly. “Why are you wearing a sweatband on your wrist?” she asks Alana, only now just noticing the black band on her sister’s wrist.

"It’s a fashion statement,” Alana says rather quickly.

“Well if the statement you’re trying to make is “I look moronic,” then yes, you’ve made it,” Este teases. She turns to Danielle when Alana pouts. “D, are you going to at least pretend like you’re having fun.”

“No.”

“You’re so lame,” Este complains with an eye roll. “I was out just as late and I’m ready for an all nighter.”

Danielle suppresses a yawn. “Whatevs.”

Alana picks up her vodka cranberry and looks all around. Dom has yet to show up and she’s wondering if she should mention it to Danielle or not. That would perk her up, right?

“I invited Dom!”

“What?” Danielle asks after a few seconds. “Why?”

“I don’t know,” Alana says quietly, shrugging her shoulders.

“Where did you see the hot bartender?” Este questions suspiciously.

Alana takes a longer sip of her beverage to stall the unnecessary questioning from her sisters. “When you two losers fell asleep I went for a walk and kind of bumped into him…he was asking about you so I mentioned we were doing a DJ set.”

Before Danielle can even respond Alana spots Dom and a very good looking friend lingering by the bar. Alana squeals and waves her arm frantically, much to Danielle and Este’s embarrassment. They know she’s nearly drunk. She stands up and skips over to Dom, almost attacking him with a hug.

“You came!” she shouts gleefully. “Danielle’s being lame,” Alana warns as she squeezes Dom. “Come say hi!”

Danielle immediately stands up and waves awkwardly when Dom and his confused looking friend enter the VIP area. “Hey!”

“Hi,” Dom smiles, leaning down to wrap Danielle in a hug. He nods at Este and then motions to his friend. “This is my buddy Nick.”

Este doesn’t even give Alana a chance to speak. Nick is hers. “You feel like buying me a drink, Dick?”

“Uh, it’s Nick…”

“Whatever,” Este says nonchalantly. She grabs Nick’s wrist. “I don’t bite. Unless you’re into that.”

“Oh my god,” Danielle mutters. She can hear Dom laughing. “Bye!” she hisses in her sister’s ear, pushing Este towards the bar. Luckily Nick follows. Alana’s pouting and all Danielle can do is rub her sister’s back. “Do you want a drink?”
