Hey…I’m sorry about the other night. Can I buy you a drink the make up for it?
Alana can barely contain the squeals of excitement rising in her throat. She lets out an unattractive squeak and immediately covers her mouth, letting her cell phone fall into her lap. She notices her two sisters looking at her oddly and shrugs.
“What?”
“Are you looking at porn again on your phone?” Este jokes smugly. She nudges Danielle so she can join in on the harassing but Danielle grimaces.
“Eww.”
“Double eww,” Alana whines at her eldest sister. She looks down at her phone and quickly responds with a big grin on her face. “It’s nothing.”
Este stares at Alana in disbelief. “Mmhm. What is it?”
“Nothing!” Alana says again. She can’t stop smiling and it’s giving her away. “Nothing for you to worry your pretty little head about!”
Alana stands up and attempts to skip back into the bedroom but Este blocks her by using her height as an advantage. She grabs Alana’s phone out of her hand and scrolls through her text messages.
“Give me my phone!”
Este just laughs as Alana tries to jump up and snatch her phone back. She places her palm on Alana’s forehead to hold her in place.
“Oooh, D, Owen wants to take Lans out to make up for the other night!”
“You mean after you punched him in the face?” Danielle quips. She stands up and peers over Este’s shoulder to look at Alana’s phone. “How sweet.”
“You guys suck,” Alana pouts when Este finally gives her back the phone. “I have to get ready!” she calls over her shoulder, running into the bedroom.
Este looks at Danielle expectantly. “Should we let her go?”
“She did do all her homework,” Danielle quips sarcastically. “Why?”
“Can we trust Owen?”
“He seems like a nice guy.”
That’s not enough for Este. “For all we know he could be a serial killer.”
Danielle rolls her eyes and picks up her phone. “Este, calm down. She’s a big girl.”
Ten minutes later Alana comes running out of the bedroom in a huff. She’s wearing her signature black shorts, a plain t-shirt, and Danielle’s leather jacket.
“Um,” Danielle begins. “Do you have permission to wear my jacket?”
Alana’s lips slip into a pout and she holds her hands together. “Please, D! Please, please, please!”
Danielle contemplates for a minute and gives in with a sigh. “Fine.”
“What?!” Este shouts, throwing her hands up in the air. “When I asked you to borrow it the other day you told me to fuck off!”
“That’s because you asked me at 2:30 in the morning when I was sleeping,” Danielle points out in annoyance.
“You’re the best!” Alana squeals, leaning over the couch to give her sister a hug. “I’ll be back later!”
“Wait!” Este calls out after her youngest sister. “Where are you guys going?”
Alana opens the door and shrugs. “Don’t worry! Bye!”
Este crosses her arms and slumps down on the couch. “I have an idea.”
“I don’t want to hear it.” Danielle shakes her head and reaches for the TV remote sitting on the table in front of them.
