He couldn't sleep.
It started three weeks ago, going on fourth. It wasn't as bad as it was when it started back then. In the past, he had to do it three times a week. But luckily, it was reduced to once a week.
Raven locks glistened under the moon's light that shone through the window, creating his shadow on the floor. He wasn't worried when this happened. There was no one there to notice but him.
His hand rested on the knob, as he peeked through the door frame. His large eyes tried adjusting to the dark, before focusing on the covered figure in a certain area of the room, residing on the bed.
His sharp eyes were able to see the familiar color within the dark. (Hair Color).
A little over two months ago, Gon returned back from his trip to finding his father. And after speaking with him until sunrise, the boy was ready to return back into the arms of his beloved Aunt, this time without his friend by his side.
Gon continued his old routine, fishing and helping with house chores. Not to mention his homework, and catching up with everyone as well. But two weeks into his return, the Freecss household was graced with a strange mystery.
Gon remembered the moment he saw her. It was winter, he was returning with groceries..
"W-woah! Are you okay?"
The boy exclaimed in surprise and worry, all but dropping the groceries to rest by the side of the unconscious girl. The top half of her body was on land, arms and fingers too weak to pull herself out completely from the water. She was shaking, and a brief touch to the neck let the Hunter know she was freezing.
With ease he used his strength to pull her completely out the water, setting her on her back. She wasn't conscious, eyes closed and lips blue. He shook her shoulders, frowning when no response came. He then proceeded to initiate CPR, pumping her chest to knock out any potential water from her lungs and out her system. Lucky for them both, it was successful. The girl began coughing, and the Freecss lifted her to an upright position to help her. Though he spoke in a frenzy, his tone was soothing.
"Hey!! What happened? Are you okay?"
"T-..thank y-you.. I.."
Her body was shaking, and her skin was pale. Gon squinted at the soaked clothing she wore. They weren't clothing fit for the cold weather. And even if they were, they were soaked through. Frowning, the boy unwrapped the scarf from his neck. It's something his Aunt knitted for him for his return. Without hesitation he wrapped around the girl's neck, and proceeded to strip off his jacket as well. With it substitute items to keep her warm, dark green mittens wrapped around her body, one under her legs and the other on her back. He held her close to keep her warm, and took off towards his home as fast as possible, completely forgetting about the fallen groceries.
"Don't worry, I'll get you someplace warm! Mito-san already started the fireplace for sure!"
After getting her warm, she had passed out again, getting sick from the cold. Though the family had never seen the girl around before, they were quick to help her. They took care of her until she was well once more, and didn't ask questions until then. She expressed her gratitude for being saved, even if she couldn't remember how she fell in the water in the first place. In fact, it was revealed she didn't remember anything before the incident. Which meant she had nowhere to go.
Never before had Gon opted she'd stay with them so fast. With reluctance, Mito agreed, though she also promised to see if they would find a way to help return her memory.
