The car ride to my mother's house is taking forever and the silence is deafening. No one dares to utter a word about the current situation, even though there is so much left unsaid. Daniel is really quiet and I know there is so much he wants to tell me but he chose to be silent. My phone keeps going off with multiple texts, calls and videos from different news channels which want an exclusive about my marriage with Hailey. Tomorrow is going to be a hell of a day, when people hear what I'm about to say. Some will be lovers, others haters while the rest will be non-believers but that's a risk I will have to take and under no circumstance will I let them get a picture of her. It is best that she remains a mystery to all.

Daniel is seemingly stressed out with all the tension of Hailey still missing and now more of my crap to deal with, I'm surprised he's still here for me even though I have been a useless excuse of a friend. I wonder sometimes when will he reach his breaking point? I shifted in my seat and put my phone in my jacket pocket and turned to face him.

"Did you schedule a live interview with that reporter Cathy White?"

He nods. "Yes I did but I don't understand why her? She's definitely going to grill you on this."

I felt my lips twitch into an evil satisfied grin which only confused him more. "I wouldn't expect anything less. Tiffany chose her to disclose this to, so why not go directly to the fire."

Daniel didn't bother to find out my reasoning for this and chose to stare at the road ahead. We arrived shortly after our exchange only to be surrounded by reporters waiting for a scoop from my family. The security team Daniel hired managed to keep them out of the gates just long enough for us to go in. I got out of the car and ascended the stairs to the large double doors, this place hasn't changed since my childhood days. Daniel went off to deal with other legal matters leaving me to face the wrath of my mother. Alone. I let out a heavy sigh trying to calm my nerves but the atmosphere surrounding this place was dense and the loud snapping and clicking noises of cameras wasn't a great help either.

I stepped inside the large house and I was hit with old memories some good while others painful. My unhappy childhood and incomplete family was one of the reasons I moved out and hate being here for longer than a day. Although, I never let them throw out a single thing that belonged to him, The memories are still fresh.

I shrugged off these depressing thoughts at the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs. I turned to my beauty Belle smiling from ear to ear before she threw herself into my arms screaming. "Beast! You came!"

I chuckled at her excitement and kissed her hair. "Of course, I would angel. I can't leave my favorite princess, now can I?"

Belle has the most innocent and down to earth personality with the added grace and confidence of a princess, she may be eleven but she has a heart of a five year old. She is a lot like Hailey but what Hailey lacks is courage and confidence. For me, she and mom are my world and I'll always protect them and I will not let them go through the pain of the past.

"I'm so glad that I didn't have to go to school today. Mom said it's all your fault." she giggled but then frowned when she noticed I wasn't happy.

Belle wrapped her tiny arms around me and buried her head in the crook of my neck, squeezing and trying to comfort me. "Damien what's wrong? Are you okay?"

I smiled and returned the hug. "I'm fine Belle. I just need to talk to mom, where is she?"

"I think she's in the kitchen and when you're done you promise to come play tea party?" she gave me her famous puppy dog eyes and jutted out her lower lip for added effect. I burst out laughing and she smiled because she knew I couldn't say no to that.
