I turned on the tap and kept staring at the water rushing out with pressure. I pushed my index finger in the running water then my middle and one by one each finger. I kept looking at the water running over my hand and then it finally drained away.
Practically everything around us teaches us lessons. The water rushing finds it way. If you keep an obstacle in front of an ant then it'll find another way. It's just that we should learn from life.
I looked up in the mirror and stared in my own black eyes. Without looking down I splashed a handful of cold water on my face, soaking some of my nearby hair with water. I used a paper towel and wiped my face. I took one last look at my reflection and then exited the washroom.
My dad.. I don't think I should tell my mom yet. She already is going through a lot. I took a deep breath and then walked straight to the bed. My mom was awake and the nurse was performing some routine checkups.
"You can take her home tomorrow." She said and then left.
"Baby, I am so sorry. I don't know what I was thinking but-"
"Mommy it's okay. Chill and take your pills." I said and gave a small side hug.
"You should go home now. It's late." She said popping a pill in her mouth.
"Where is dad?" I said and narrowed my eyes.
"Oh! He had some work at the office so he'll be home by morning." She said and smiled faintly.
"Right.." I said and then turned around to leave.
"I'll come by after school." I said and then left.
I walked down the hallway and reached the lift. It was already closing when I did the stupidest shit. I stopped it by pushing my hand in between. I should have known that these lifts don't have sensors. Before my hand could get mercilessly crushed a strong forceful hand came in between and touched my own. Then it pushed open the lift door open.
That was close!
I looked up to meet the familiar chocolate brown eyes. Dayum! I shouldn't have had tried that.
I entered the lift looking down and stood in the farther most corner avoiding his eye raping gaze.
"I'm sorry." He spoke up and then cleared his throat. I didn't respond and took my phone out. Even though it was out of batteries I began typing on the screen.
"Wow, you can type without even switching on the phone." He said and snorted.
I could feel my cheeks heating up. Can this lift go any faster? The familiar 'ding' sound greeted the awkward silence and I stepped out.
Before I could move any further his hand caught my own.
"I am sorry Nadia. How can I make you happy?" He asked innocently.
"I hate you." I said and struggled to move away my arm.
He pulled me towards himself and saying I was crushed was an understatement.
I used my hands to push away but huh! As if I'd succeed.
"Okay, okay. You are forgiven." I grumbled while he chuckled. He released me from his death grip and I tightened my bun.
"Want me to drive you home? It's kinda late." He asked.
"No, no. I have my car." I said and waved my hand.
"Okay then." He said and stuffed his hands inside his pockets.
I took my phone out and took a selfie.
"Can I join?" He asked eyeing me.
"Gladly." I said.
I took a selfie with him. His one arm around my shoulder while mine holding the phone.
"Cute enough." He said and nodded and we began wallking towards the exit. I was a step behind so his arm snaked around my waist and pulled me forward not before giving me a playful grin.
You just met this guy and you are all touchy with him. You bitch! Not again with the Brain-Heart conversation.
"See you around Nadia." He said and smiled releasing me.
I smiled back and then walked towards my car grinning like an idiot. Maybe this day wasn't such bad after all.
