My thoughts were jumbled up. All I could think was that I could lose my mom any moment now. I rushed towards the house phone and dialed 102.
"Hello?" My voice came out more panicked and muffled than I thought.
"Ma'am, please calm down. What is wrong?" The woman on the other side spoke calmly.
"My mom. She.. She.. We.. I..Ambulance!" I shouted out loudly.
"Address?" She asked. I told her our address and then cut the phone.
"Lindsey, mumma is going to be alright. I promise." I whisphered. I dailed my father's number and kept tapping my foot on the ground. I was getting impatient with every ring that passed. "Dad! Pick up the phone." I whisphered as if he'd get my message.
"Hello?" He answered in a bold tone and sniffeled. He was crying, I'm sure. I heard the sound of siren of the ambulance outside my home.
"Dad come to the hospital like right now. Mom.. Just come to the one on the back side of the supermart. It's an emergency." I told him and kept the phone before he could further ask any more questions.
I ran towards the front door. My foot hit the side stool and I groaned in pain. Damn! I'm so clumsy. I got up and hopped towards the door on one foot and opened the gate.
"Kitchen." I told them and gave them way. After a few deadly seconds they came back with my mom and took her in the ambulance. Everything happened so fast that I was unable to register. This day is very unlucky for our family.
I ran inside the house and grabbed my car keys. I rushed outside ignoring the pain in my foot. I unlocked the door and sat in my car as fast as possible. I reversed the car and drove out of the driveway. One hand was holding my hairs which had fallen out of my bun, which no longer looked like a bun. I took close turns nearly hitting the sign post. I reached the hospital and parked the car.
I ran towards the counter. "Mrs. Amanda Winters." I said and took a deep breath.
"She is in the operation theatre right now. After, that she'll get room number 227." She said and smiled.
"Thank you. Which way is the operation theatre?" I asked.
"Go straight, there is a water dispenser kept on your right. Turn that way. You'll find the lift on the left hand side. Make your way by the lift to second floor. After, that go straight, take your first left then your third right. Go straight till you reach the end of the hallway. The door on your left would be room number 227. As, I think that by now she'd be in her room but if you still want to check the operation theatre it's the third door on this floor " By the time she finished I was staring at her and mentally telling myself to make a map. I gave her the expression saying 'Are you seriously fucking kidding me?. She smiled at me and then her black coloured eyes travelled to my left. She smiled seductively which made me turn in confusion.
Behind me stood a guy. He looked young, maybe a high school student or something. Strangely, I never saw him before. He wore a pair of black jeans and a white button-up-shirt. The sleeves were folded just a little above his elbows and he smiled looking at the lady. It seemed as if he was trying to say 'You are too old for me'. I chuckled softly which made him turn his eyes towards me. He stared at me for too long with those chocolate brown eyes which made me want to eat them. I am addicted to chocolate what can I say and they seemed so deep, so mesmerising, so pure, so so ok stop. I finally looked away. and began walking away from him.
Then a question took birth in my mind. Where is the operation theatre?
Shit!
I tried to remember what that lady said. Water dispenser on left.. Lift! I just have to find where the lift is. I walked and walked and walked and one more time walked till I reached a water dispenser on my right but I think she said left.
"Need help?" A deep husky voice made the stream of thoughts come to a sudden halt in my mind. I turned around to face Mister-oh-so-attractive once again. I mentally groaned seeing those chocolatey eyes once again. Can I eat you eyes, pretty please?
"No, thanks." I said and moved towards the elevator. He came and stood next to me. I raised my head and looked at him. His face has a nice cut and his hairs were just wow. They were dark brown the same color as his eyes. I gave him the name, chocolate guy. Everything was so chocolatey about him. I could feel his head turing towards me and I instantly looked at the clock behind him. Phew! That was close.
I heard the 'ding' sound of the elevator and looked away. I stepped inside and pressed level two. Atleast I remember something. He stood there casually, hands in his pocket, eyes on the floor.
"Which floor?" I asked. He finally looked at me with those chocolate eyes. You seriously have an effect on me chocolate!
"Same." He said and smiled.
I nodded in response and tapped my foot on the ground. How much time dies it take to reach level two? Hospital lifts should be fast enough. Suddenly, the lift made some crushing noise. Maybe, it's hungry.
Finally it came to halt and I started at 'the guy' wide eyed.
"Well, it's time to get some sleep." He mumbled.
"By the way, I am Zach Anderson." He introduced and moved his hand forward.
"Nadia Winters. Nice to meet you." I said and shook his hand.
This is gonna be great.
"But hospital lifts should be in oder?" I asked.
"Well, they take the patients from a different lift. This one is for their relatives." He replied.
Just what I wanted to hear!
