Spellman 87...

"Are you ready to start our last year here, sis?" Gabrielle shrieked, as she grabbed multiple outfits from her closet.

"It's just another school day for me, nothing special about it." I answered, turning my attention to my own wardrobe.

"What! This is the beginning of our senior year in college! The end of our educational torture, and you're not excited? I swear something is wrong with you." Gabrielle chuckled as she ducked into her closet. She came out with an arm full of matching shoes to her outfits.

Though we are sisters, you know same mother and father type of siblings; Gabrielle and I are as different as night and day. I was never the type to get excited about first days, parties, guys, and things like that as we were growing up; I always felt like school was a requirement that needed to be fulfilled to be successful in life. But, Gabrielle on the other hand; was the complete opposite yet still managed to excel in school.

I don't know how she did it but she was the type to party all night and go to class the next morning and ace a pop quiz. That was something else I always envied her for besides the fact that she'd gotten all the good looks from our parents.

"Let me see what you're wearing tomorrow," Gabby said excitedly, interrupting my train of thought.

I picked up the oversized sweater and lose fitting jeans to show her.

"That's what you're wearing?" Gabby chuckled.

"Yes, it is. Why?" I questioned, slightly offended

"You're serious? Oh, hell no! I will not let you begin your last year in Spellman looking like someone's grandma." she shouted as she ran over to my closet.

"I thought you said you went shopping, Carla? Where'd you go? To the thrift shop," Gabby joked while rummaging through my closet.

"That's exactly where I went. Why? What's wrong with my clothes?"

"Sis, please tell me you're kidding!"

"No, I'm not kidding!" I answered, now thoroughly irritated with my older sister.

Gabby made a mad dash towards her fanny pack.

"What are you doing Gabby?" I asked suspiciously.

"I'm calling Mary and Tiffany"

"Why are you call-" Gabby shushed me as Tiffany picked up on the other line.

"Girl! We've got a shopping E-MER-GEN-CY!" Gabby yelled into the phone.

"Hell nah, it ain't me." There was a slight pause. "Who else would it be?"

Gabby burst into laughter.

"Ok, so we'll see y'all in a few." Gabby said hanging up the phone.

"Alright, Mary and Tiffany said they'll be here in a half. So, get ready." Gabby chanted.

"Where are we going?"

"To the mall, of course! I can't have any sister of mine's walking around looking like nobody loves her! This year will be different, you're going to look and act different. It's time for you to come out of that stuffy shell, Carla. Let loose a little and live!" She grabbed a hold of my cheeks.

"Get off my face! You know I hate that!" I said, slapping her hands away.

"Besides, what I am getting all dressed up for? Not one guy has looked at me since we started Spellman." I said feeling, and sounding even more pitiful.
