Shakespeare said that there is nothing either good or bad, but only thinking makes it so. I did not see myself as a bad person. Nor did I regret taking the lives of the girls that had challenged me. It was all in the past anyway, and the past would not define who I would become, who I am.
I silently crawled out of Xavier's embrace, pulling the covers back over him. I then stole a ruby necklace that he had hidden away in the drawers of his desk, tucking it into my bag of what little possessions I owned. I almost made it without getting caught.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Imelda clipped.
I paused halfway down the front steps before heading back up to accept the sword I had won in its black case.
I stepped back and we looked at each other.
"Good luck, you are welcome back here whenever you need."
It was such a considerate gesture from such a bitch of a woman.
"Thank you." I nicked one of the instructor's horses and road it away into the sunrise. I was ready to face the world.
