Yuki
As soon as they reached the bottom of the stairs she noticed the interior was not nearly as destroyed at the plaza. Crucible robots lay on the floor in pieces or sparking frantically from heavy damage. There were no other signs of players coming through the hall besides a handful of bullet holes in the walls and the dying warmth of solar energy. In the distance she heard the sound of something being dragged across the floor. It was coming from the vanguard hall. Yuki and Artemis shared a quick glance and ducked behind the desk Shaxx use to stand at. They pulled out their guns and waited till the sound got loud enough to know they were in handcannon range. They shared one more glance before they jumped up together aiming their guns at a hunter caring a wounded Titan, who now had a shotgun pointed directly at them. "God damn it" Yuki thought. The hunter tilted their head slightly in confusion "Yuki? Is that you?" Mia asked. "Who the fuck is Yuki?" The Titan whispered still pointing the shotgun at them. Yuki and Artemis put their guns to their side. Yuki nodded her head slowly waiting for the scolding her mom usually gave her in this situation. Artemis cringed a little bit in fear "Uh we kinda said fuck that and said we're going to help anyway." Artemis said rubbing the back of her head nervously. The Titan put his shotgun down and looked to Mia "Do you know them or something?" He asked. "Me and biashii will tell you the full details later, but long story short you're an uncle and their your nieces." She said quickly giving him a weak smile. John's eyes widened and he straightened his limp body quickly. "The fuck you just say? Nieces? Who's?" He demanded before he winced in pain and let his body go limp again. Kassidy shook her head "You took 3 buck shot in the chest, you're tough but your not invincible." Mia looked at Yuki and Artemis "I'm going to have a talk with you two after this situation is under control, but right now I need you girls to go help ... Trystan on the roof of the tower. He's taking on a lot of New Monarchy players by himself." She said with a worried look. Yuki's fear of her scolding washed away, she nodded. "The rest of our team is holding the plaza since ... well the last team's departure. They should be cleaning up the troops out there soon, please let them know where we are when they're done." Yuki said mantling over the desk and running into the vanguard room. "She's very confident in her team's survival." John said staring at the stares leading to the plaza. Artemis mangled the desk as well "Trust your team, that's what you taught us John!" Artemis yelled as she sprinted after Yuki. Together they turned to the right and saw the elevator doors that lead to the upper floors. They sprinted for it and pressed the button to bring it down to them. There was silence for what felt like hours before Yuki heard a faint sound. Her eyes widened as she realized what it was, she wrapped her right arm around Artemis and yanked her away from the elevator doors. Within seconds the faint sound turned into a scream and then a loud metallic crash. The elevator door Artemis was standing in front of blew outward and landed a few feet away flat. Yuki looked to Artemis, her face was full of shock. "Thank you..." she finally said still staring at the door on the floor. "Nobody's dying on me today" she said. Yuki peered into the hole the door left, the elevator its self was left in a state that reminded her of broken glass. "Well looks like we gotta find another way up and fast." She said looking around the room. Artemis regained her composure and looked into the elevator shaft herself. Yuki stared at the window that overlooked the mountains in the distance, her eyes widened as she got an idea. She pulled out her hand cannon and shot the glass to pieces. "What the hell are you doing?" Artemis asked standing beside her. Yuki just smiled at her as she was absorbed by light, the thrusters of a ship were heard in the distance. Artemis let out a long sigh and slumped over. "That bitch left me ..." she sighed. On the top of the tower, an old rivalry lit up the tower like New York city's Christmas tree. There was a faint roar of a ship over the nonstop gunfire, light appeared behind a crumbling wall. Yuki formed from the light as her ship quietly flew away. She leaned against the wall and looked around the corner. She saw a dozen guardians in red and white armor spread out around the rooftop looking around frantically. Before she could follow their gazes she felt a hand cover her mouth. "Yuki it's me it's me Trystan!" She heard her dad whisper. He removed his hand and she turned around to see no one behind her. "Uh daddy you there?" She asked looking around. His invisibility broke showing dried blood coming from his nose and bullet wounds in his legs, his cloak was torn at the ends and his heavy breathing only further showed his weariness. He gave a weak smile "Come on don't tell me being in destiny 2 made you forget about a bladedancer's sneaking abilities." He said taking a piece of his torn cloak and rapping it around a wound in his leg. Yuki stared at him in shock "How are you not freaked out right now? You're bleeding all over your body! Why were you fighting twelve people by yourself to begin with?" She asked staring at his wounds. "I guess I never told you these part of my stories? The PvE parts of this game are very forgiving, you don't feel nearly as much pain as when your fighting other players. The only exceptions though are raids, those feel just as bad. And for your other question. John was up here with thirty of them before me and Mia got here. Why shouldn't I take care of the other twelve right?" He said peering around his side of the wall. Yuki started to hear the low roar of a ship's thrusters. In front of them Artemis formed from the light of her ship's transmat. When she fully formed she looked to Yuki then Trystan, she frowned. "You going to nag at us too about coming to help you guys?" She asked bluntly. Trystan raised an eyebrow "I wanted you guys to come, maybe not necessarily for this fight in particular but nonetheless." He said as his breathing started to become normal. Yuki looked even more confused than Trystan "You told me you didn't want to risk my life on a stupid war and told me and my team to stay put." She said staring at her father. His started eyes wandered around "Listen Yuki, I don't want you or any of your friends to get hurt, that is true. But I know I shouldn't hold you back, we were reticuled early into the game because we just seemed like ambitious kids in over their heads. We were betted on to be wiped out in the first month. Now we're the commanders of the subclasses though. Even though you're my daughter and I want no harm to come to you I know, deep down you could probably kick anyone's ass if you wanted it enough." He said putting his hand on her head. Yuki's eyes started to redden until tears starting to drop down her cheeks. Artemis smiled, it'd be the first time she seen her friend cry out of joy instead sadness. The moment was cut short by the loud ring of a gunshot. "Ok biashii it's about time you quit hiding already and come out to accept your retribution." Said a man in the distance. Trystan grinded his teeth and stood up suddenly, he lost his balance but quickly regained it, the wound in his legs weren't fully healed yet. "What does he mean by your retribution?" Artemis asked looking at Trystan suspiciously. He pulled out his last word and leaned against the wall, letting out a sigh "I'm sure you probably heard of our little rivalry with Math Class in our stories?" He asked. "Weren't they that destiny youtuber datto's clan? Didn't you guys get made commanders instead of them?" Artemis asked with a confused look on her face. He nodded "After that though there was some unrest in their clan, they started to blame one another for them being undermined by us. Eventually lead to their disbandment. Most of them accepted the outcome but there were still some who wanted their positions back." Trystan said coldly as he walked around the corner and out in the open. "What the hell is he doing? He has hunter recovery! He's not healed yet!" Artemis whispered aggressively. "He's trusting us to take advantage of them not knowing we're here arty." She said standing up and peering around the corner to see what was going on. She watched the back of his torn cloak flutter in the wind as he approached a group of players in red and white armor. They pointed their weapons in unison at him. A particularly tall titan moved to the front of the group. "Hello, codex." Trystan greeted coldly.
