Megan paced the room in utter devastation. It had been a week since she had seen Luca with another girl. To be completely honest, what did she really expect from him? Didn't she know of his past? Yet somehow she had sheltered this illogical hope in her heart that she would change him. That he would at least respect her if not love her. She still had to figure how she even thought he would like her enough to try and remain exclusive, she wasn't one those sexy determined girls that he usually went around with. She was shy, timid; for god's sake it took her years to confront her feelings for him. They weren't meant to be and she knew it but still it just hurt so much to be let down by him. Her mind understood why he did it but it was becoming incredibly hard for her heart to come to terms with the truth. What made the whole situation a lot more bitter was Jessica's last words.
"How long are you going to take advantage of your brother's friendship with Lucas? Its fairly obvious that the guy dated an inexperienced girl like yourself just to keep peace with his bestfriend. He wanted to like and believe me he tried but your just too plain Meg darling. What Lucas did was justifiable but you Megan? How can you make your so-called bestfriend suffer like this? Force him into something he'd never do willingly. He cant let you go because of your brother but you.... you just make me sick"
Megan had run out of the party with tear stained eyes and locked herself in her room for weeks together. She had let go of social life completely. She ignored Lucas' calls but from time to time spoke to her brother. She let everyone believe she was caught up with school work so they'd leave her alone. In truth she was mending her broken heart. Getting rid of Lucas wasn't an option since Zach would need an explanation and the only one she had would break Zach and Luca's friendship. She couldn't do that to Zach, Megan wasn't selfish like that. She needed to find a way to relieve Luca of their so-called relationship without affecting Zach. If only Luca hadn't pretended to be interested in her, she wouldn't be dealing with this. She needs a friend to just open up to but she can't go to Stacy, not without risking Zach finding out. Who could she turn to?
A knock on the door brought her to reality. She faced the mirror and mad sure eyes weren't too red. Once assured of her appearance she walked to the door. The knocks got louder and she was sure, she'd find Zach on the other side. Only she didn't.
"Ryan!" she exclaimed.
"How's my favourite person doing?" he asked. He was leaning against her door frame, looking somehow older than he used to.
"Alright. How about you? how are things with you? And Michelle, how is she?" she asked in desperate need to keep his attention away from her life.
"Whoa. I know we need to catch up but does it necessarily have to be at your door frame?" he asked slightly amused.
"Sorry. Come in" she ushered him in. They went up to Megan's room.
"So like I was saying, how are things with you?" Megan asked genunely wanting to know how her friend was.
"They're okay. Michelle's taking chemotherapy and she's pulling through just fine. She's a strong girl" he said sounding slightly proud.
"I know she's doing fine, silly. You told me this over the mails. How are thing with you and her?" she asked.
"Well... they're not as good as I hoped them to be. I mean things are bit awkward but then again I didn't expect her to magically pick things up where we left them. We've grown apart but hopefully we will get back together. We can't throw away what we had. We're close, pretty much like you and Lucas" he said with a sad smile.
