*Prologue*

"What!" I exclaim, "We are moving were?"

"Sweety, you knew that there was always a chance to move with a job like mine," dad says sternly. He is a lieutenant general in the army,"Moving to this base in Florida might get me, finally, promoted to general!"

"Well why can't you get promoted to general here, in Illinois?" I yell and I watch my mother and father cringe at the sound of me yelling. They don't especially like it when I yell.

"Honey, it will benefit the family if we move to Florida. Not just your dad's job but mine, too. Think about all the marine life in Florida!" my mom says enthusiastically. I understand why mom wants to move because it is hard to be a marine biologist in Springfield, Illinois. I know mom has put her job/first love second for her family.

"What about Allyson and my other friends, they will be heart broken!" I plead, playing the best friend card even though I know I have lost this argument. Out of all my friends, Allyson Sharpe is my best friend. Every brunette needs a blonde best friend. We have gone to school together since school started and we planned on finishing school together, too. "Well Junior year starts in a month, can't we wait two years til I graduate and I'm away at college before we move? Its not like the base is going anywhere!"

"Yes, but the general position is, I don't think you understand. It is a great honor to be chosen to move to this base. I know its short notice, but I have to think for the family here. You do too, because we leave for Florida in three weeks. End of discussion." Dad says authoritatively.

So in three weeks I am leaving to live in some small, smelly surfer town by the beach. I'm leaving my friends, my room, and my extended family, besically my whole life. Just like that, my life is ruined.
