“I can’t believe today is the last day in like forever that I will see you!” my best friend Allyson tells me with tears in her eyes, “I’m going to miss you so much, Loons!” she cries throwing her arms around me pulling me into a death hug. Loons is the nickname that she gave me a while back, because my middle name is Luna.

“Today will be the last day you will ever see me if you don’t stop suffocating me!” I chuckle even though I really didn’t want to leave my best friend’s arms.

“Okay, okay! I’m starving let’s eat!” Ally says already dodging the last of the moving boxes in my room. I follow quickly behind her.

Today is the day that I move to Cocoa Beach, Florida. Allyson spent the night last night so we could spend time together before I move. This move is going to be really hard for our friendship because we see each other every day. She is my next door neighbor after all. We grew up together. She is practically my sister. We promised each other that we will call and text each other every day, and visit whenever possible.

We walk into my empty kitchen to see my mom already making breakfast, “Good morning girls! Avery I talked to your dad this morning and he says you are going to love your new room! It has the best view of the ocean! You will be able to hear the sound of the waves crashing every morning! It’s going to be beautiful! Aren’t you so excited?”

“Just ecstatic,” I say rolling my eyes. Dad went to the house a day early just to do some stuff with the Realtor.

“Okay I get it that you don’t want to move, but you don’t have a choice. So get over it, and at least get excited about the fact that you get to decorate a bigger, better, new, room!”

“But I like the room that I have now!”

“That’s enough, now eat your breakfast and pack the rest of your boxes. We head to our new home at ten! Which is in two hours! Ally is your dad and sister coming over to say goodbye?” my mom says grabbing a box.

“Um, yeah,” Ally squeaks.

After we ate breakfast I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. When I’m done I put my face wash, toothpaste, and tooth brush in a bag to take to the new house. Once in my room, I grab the only outfit that I haven’t packed, which is a pair of aqua comfy shorts and a yellow tank since it is still kind of warm outside, and put it on. I run a brush through my hair and pack that too, I throw my hair in a messy bun on the top of my head and bring the rest of my boxes downstairs and right out the front door into the moving van. When I come back inside I see Ally’s dad talking to my mom and Ally’s little sister Willa running around my house. I decide to take one last look around my house making sure I don't forget anything.  I walk into the family room, that’s where I heard the news that we were moving. I had just gotten back from getting ice-cream with Ally and my dad had called a family meeting.

“Oh god, this is probably the talk about going to college,” I thought to myself as I sat down in a chair across from my mom.

“Avery, you are probably wondering why your mother and I have called a family meeting tonight,” Dad says using his soothing voice which he only uses when he is about to tell me something I’m not going to like. “You probably aren’t going to like this, but as you know I have been trying to get promoted to General for a very long time. I finally have the option to get promoted. I got an offer from a base in Florida, they want me to come out there for one to two years and after those years I will become general.”

“That’s great Dad-“I start.

“Wait I wasn’t finished yet. In order for me to go down there the whole family will have to move to Florida,” Dad says the last sentence in almost a whisper.
