Signs

~~~~~~~
I've told you time and time again
That some thing's not quite right.
You look me in the eye
Have not heard a word I said.
You stand right at my side
With that slow, deceiving nod
You tell me to keep quiet
And smile through the day.
I don't want a lot
I'm not that kind of girl.
I just want to smile
And know that it's not fake
Even if I only get to do it once.
I swear it's not a lot.
I swear it's not a lot.
At night I'm left alone.
Darkness surrounds; it's cold.
My smile slips away
When there no one left but me.
You leave me all alone
To battle my own war
With the monsters in the dark
And the demons in my head.
I've told you time and time again
That some thing's not quite right.
You look me in the eye
Have not heard a word I said.
You stand right at my side
With that slow, deceiving nod
You tell me to keep quiet
And smile through the day.
Is everyone deceived?
I see the liar next to me.
Can't you just let me in?
Can't I say the truth?
Apearence is just a myth
But life isn't just a game.
Sometimes walls should be put down
So we can see the light.
I'm not asking for much
Just a hand to hold,
Find a caring soul,
Let my battles show,
To not be alone.
I've told you time and time again
That some thing's not quite right.
You look me in the eye
Have not heard a word I said.
You stand right at my side
With that slow, deceiving nod
You tell me to keep quiet
And smile through the day.
It's been too long.
Have too many scars.
But our people care
Say apearence wears
Cannot take it off
No matter where.
But my scars are deep
And they grow deeper
With each passing day.
I've told you time and time again
That some thing's not quite right.
You look me in the eye
Have not heard a word I said.
You stand right at my side
With that slow, deceiving nod
You tell me to keep quiet
And smile through the day.
I don't need a lot.
At least, not from you.
Not if you don't want me to.
Just don't let me drown
Don't stop me now.
One day you'll see
All that's wrong with me
But it'll be too late
I'm  already out the gate.
Don't plan on coming back,
But you already know.
You just watched me pack.
And there'll be that day
When you hear my name.
Ask to yourself
"Remember her now?"
And I'll have it all
Everything you would want
But you let me down
Kept me from standing tall
So don't come crying,
Asking for little favors.
The past is gone.
I'm not going back.
See up that road,
My future's bright.
Can't stop me now
I'm doing well.
