Chapter One: Strange Happenings
There it was again, that weird feeling I've been getting lately. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but- "Lucian! It's time for school!", ugh there's my mom nagging me again. "Coming!", "C'mon! You're gonna be late!", she said. "Alright, alright!". I ran down the stairs, damn near falling on my way down. "How do I look?", I asked. "You look fine, quit worrying". Pfft. Easy for her to say, she doesn't have chronic anxiety. I grabbed my bag and ran out the door. There she was, my Ninja ZX 6r. If you don't know, that's the sportsbike I've been saving for since I was 14. Now I'm 17, and I finally was able to get it. Just in time for the school year. "Be careful! You know I hate that thing!", said my mom as she popped her head out the door. I just nodded and waved as I put my helmet on and cranked it up. What a beautiful sound. Off to school to start my senior year. Another year full of asshole jocks, preppy girls, and ghetto stoners. Oh joy.
I found a parking spot to my surprise, at the same time noticing a lot of heads turned my way. I guess they've never seen a bike before. There's that damn twinge again, if it doesn't stop I'm getting checked out. I shook it off and continued to my locker. Everything felt...unreal, like it was there but at the same time, not. I looked side to side at the masses of people as they all rushed to their cliques and classes and hangout spots, and of course nobody paid me any mind like I wasn't even there. I'm bound to be noticed soon, because I'm the new kid. Everyone notices the new kid. I found my locker, and shoved my bag and my helmet in and grabbed the books I needed. Off to homeroom for a great school year! Not...
So, I'm the first to class, so there's one good thing: I get to pick my seat. I take a seat near the back where I'll hopefully avoid everyone. I pull out my phone as an excuse to not make eye contact, but then I hear it. "Lucian." What the hell? I look around and the teacher is sitting at her desk waiting for class to start. I hear it again "Lucian." What makes it even stranger is that I can't tell if it's male or female. Speaking of fema- woah. This girl walked in, drop dead gorgeous. Black hair, bright green eyes. I look back down to my phone, mindlessly scrolling through things. Low and behold who does she sit next to? Ding ding ding, we got a winner. Me. As long as it's her maybe this year won't be so bad.
"Hi, I'm Solara." She said with a smile that practically turned my insides to mush. Fumbling, I managed to stumble out the words "Hey, I'm Lucian.", I smiled back nervously. "Really? Lucian? Interesting.", She replied with a raised brow. Okay, that's kind of weird. It's like she expected me to be here. "Oh, shit. I forgot my book." she said. She slid out of her chair in pants so tight, they should be illegal. Needless to say I'm going to be pretty distracted today. "Lucian." I heard it again. "Oh what the fuck!", I said in frustration. "Excuse me, young man?" said my teacher whose name I have yet to learn. "Crap, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that out loud." I explained. The teacher smiled "Oh, no problem, just gotta keep up appearances. What the fuck indeed." she said. Did not expect that at all. I look back at my black phone screen and I don't believe what I'm seeing, my irises have turned bright red. I gasp, drop my phone on the desk, and close my eyes. I open my eyes and sneak a peek at my phone, back to normal. That was weird. "You're right that was weird," said Solara making my heart almost jump out my throat. "Where'd you come from, and I said that in my head. How did you-" she cut me off, "Been here for a minute, sweetheart, and you said that out loud by the way." she said with a smirk. I know I didn't but whatever. This day is getting weird.
I make it through the rest of my classes with no incident, seeing as I only have homeroom with Solara. Man, she is strange. The bell rings, and I dart out of class to my locker. I spin the combination, only it doesn't unlock. I do it again, no good. I pull on the lock and it doesn't budge. Right locker, right code I'm sure. I put in the combination once more, to no avail. In frustration, I grab the lock and instead of it not moving, I rip it right off my locker door. I drop the lock, ready to just leave. I open the door and hrab my things. Shutting the door, I jump back caused by none-other than Solara standing there. "You on roids or something?" She asked with a smirk. "What? No, of course not. It was an accident, a fluke or something." I said nervously. "Mhmm, whatever you say. By the way, here you go.", she said slipping a piece of paper in my hand. I open it and it's her number and address. "Hey whats thi-" I ask only to notice she pulled another Batman dissapearance. I put the paper in my pocket and get to my bike. Finally, home.
