"So what were you and my sister talking about?" Jamal asked on the ride home.

Shameik thought about Lorie for a second and hid a smile on his lips, in the backseat. Kandi had dozed off as soon as they got her in the car. Lorie had been refreshing, to say the least. Her hair was relaxed and her long 'fro had been braided in to one thick braid - he wondered how it felt in his hands. In fact he had wondered far more than that, but he didn't want to admit it to himself.

That two piece she had been wearing was something he knew would stick in his mind for a while, and the fact that she was Jamal's sister didn't make it better.

"Not much. She seems great, though." He managed to downplay the conversation just right. He didn't want Jamal to know that he had asked her to leave with him.

Shameik had odd dreams that night. Mostly he dreamt of his parents and saw fragments of happier times in their lives, before the drinking had ruined them both. This night, however, was different on all levels. He had weaved in and out of dreams about this new mystery woman he had met. Granted she was young, only twenty-one to his twenty-five, but in his dreams that didn't matter.

When we woke up at 7 am he was covered in sweat and breathing heavily. He knew what had happened in the dream but wondered why he was so physically effected by it - and not just because it was morning.

"Good morning, brother." Jamal said when Shameik dared himself out of his bedroom. Kandi seemed to have disappeared to work while Jamal was placed in his boxers with his laptop in his hands. "I'm working from home today." He gestured to himself as an explanation for his outfit choice.

"I see. I have a few job intervews to go to, today. So I'll probably be back here around dinner time." He felt odd reporting back to someone as to weaer he was going, but it wouldn't be for that much longer.

"Don't worry, you got a key. You can comeback whenever you want."

Right. He had forgotten he had actually been given a key to this place. But despite that he didn't want it to feel like he was perminately moving in because that was not the case. He wanted them to believe that he would actually be out of here within weeks time - even if it took a bit longer.

"Oh, Shameik?" Jamal yelled as he was on his way out of the door, "can you drop off that present at Lorie's job if I text you the deets?" He pointed to the big package on the kitchen table, wrapped in bright yellow paper.

Jamal wanted him to go? Had he not seen the way they had flirted yesterday? Perhaps if he had he would think twice about letting him gift her this present, but Shameik didn't want to disappoint and he didn't want to miss an opportunity to see her again. A giddy feeling entered his stomach when he grabbed the present.

"Sure thing." He said casually and didn't let the smile be visible until he had closed the door behind him on his way out.

Lorie was poking around her lunch not really feeling for a salad. It had been Moniece turn to buy lunch today and she was on some type of diet. Lorie was starving today and craved a lot more than a salad - but then again she wasn't only talking about food. Moniece had been at the party yesterday but failed to see her flirt with Shameik.

Today she had spilled the beans, some of which she wished she had for lunch, as Moniece was listening attentively at the lunch table.

"--but he's my brother's friend, so there goes that shot." She said disappoingly.

It wasn't Jamal's fault but he would have a fit if she said that she had the hots for his new roommate. No borhter wanted to hear that and no brother would certainly allow his best friend to take a chance on his sister. It was so typical her luck; when she met someone there was always something that had to go wrong.
