Lorie had always been a stubborn girl. She had inherited that from her father, claimed her mother, but it could've gone either way. Her stubbornness had served her well in life but tonight she wasn't sure if it worked in her favor.

Shameik was talking to Jamal, who seemed to be too drunk. He had been flirting with women, Lorie had seen it, but Shameik seemed too occupied dealing with her brother than flirting with other women - she assumed he wasn't too happy about that.

Lorie's stubbornness had kept her and Moniece in Andre, and his friends, company since their run-in with Shameik and as the night progressed Lorie felt she needed to make a decision. She could stay here all night and try her hardest to forget about Shameik and get to know Andre, he wasn't a bad guy at all. Or she could do the one thing she wanted to do; talk to Shameik.

"Is something wrong?" Andre leaned over to ask her but Lorie shook her head and flashed a smile.

This was nothing for him to concern himself about, despite the fact she was involving him. She assumed that the guilt from using Andre would come sooner or later, pending on her decision.

"You're still thinking about him, aren't you?" Moniece whispered when she finally tore herself away from her male company.

"How could I not? He's right there." Lorie whispered to her friend while keeping an eye out for Shameik, who had stayed firm in his position next to Jamal.

Jamal was flirting away, drunk and unknowing of his consequences but somehow Shameik was staying put right next to him. He hadn't continued flirting with other women at all but taken care of his best friend. Lorie had been the one too stubborn to talk to him before; she had wanted to see his blood boil as she accompanied Andre. Now that all seemed so stupid!

"Looks like you might have to make a decision now," Moniece nudged her to once again look in Shameik's direction. "Seems like they're leaving."

Lorie witnessed Jamal follow a woman through the crowd of the night club and after them walked Shameik. The concern for her brother instantly got pushed away when she realized it was now or never. Moniece gave her a confident nod to help her make her decision, as if she hadn't made it already.

"Excuse me," Lorie mumbled and quickly made her way to the dance floor to cut Shameik off.

She made sure not to be seen by her brother and promised herself to yell at him tomorrow, Kandi was too good for him to cheat on her. Shameik looked tired and a bit drunk when she spotted his face, but still he had not seen her. She closed her eyes for a few seconds and gathered strength before reaching out her hand and gently closing it around Shameik's arm.

He looked startled when her touch became known to him, but just like she had at the concert he didn't say a word. Lorie looked at the man she was so furiously attracted to and let her eyes do the pleading for him. She wanted him to stay with her, she was done being stubborn for tonight.
Shameik's body turned to her and all of a sudden Jamal was gone and once again they had been left alone with each other. Around them people were dancing and she felt their bodies bump into hers.

"Would you dance with me, despite what I said earlier?" Lorie said and felt ashamed of her behavior. Instead of scorning him for flirting she should've helped him with her brother or perhaps just have talked to him when he approached her the first time.

Shameik gave her a tired smile before he nodded acceptingly. Lorie could no longer hide her excitement and let the music take over her body as she moved close to Shameik's body. This was exactly what she had wanted, or at least a good start.

Shameik had worried about Jamal for the rest of the night, up and till Lorie grabbed him. He had told Jamal countless times not to do anything stupid, even though he wasn't certain he needed to trust that Jamal wouldn't. This moment was far too important for him to exit the club for and he would be damned if Lorie danced with anyone else but him.
He had known what she had been doing when she had said that last part:
