Who's The Man?
He's The Man.
*****
Josh's ego goes way overboard, as he gambles and sings for people in his local town. And making his ego get bigger.
Luckily as he might say, he doesn't need to know any ad...
I walked through the streets of an Old Town, Worcester. It was pretty old, bit I wasn't here to admire the scenery. I was here to win money. Gambling was my game.
As, walking through the door to a worn down house, a group of guys holding cigarettes in their dirty hands stopped me.
"Excuse me sir. I don't recognize -
"Josh Prentice."
The tallest one nodded and let me through to a whole group of guys, that stank of weed and alcohol.
A song was on in the background, with a beautiful girl singing up on the stage.
Her hair was blonde, and her eyes shone under the spotlight, her voice was raspy but very English and posh.
I was memorized by her singing,
I know the score like the back of my hand Them other boys, I don't give a damn They kiss on the ring, I carry the crown Nothing can break, nothing can break me down Don't need no advice, I got a plan I know the direction, the lay of the land I know the score like the back of my hand Them other boys, I don't give a damn
I'm the man, come round No-no-nothing can break, no-nothing can break me down I'm the man, come round and No-no-nothing can break, you can't break me down

I sat down with my mates and watched the girl entertain the old men, which disgusted me in such a way.
She wore a cowgirl hat, and a pretty little dress which showed off her toned legs.
The music was groovy and upbeat, as herself danced about I couldn't help but get up on the table and dance as well.
She turned to me, and smiled. Dancing with me and the beat of the drums. The music suddenly came to an end and she left the stage leaving me gazing at where she once stood wondering if she would come back.
All through the night I thought about the girl, and the money that I had lost that night.
She wouldn't get out of my head, and moping about my money wasn't going to help it either. So instead, I looked up the lyrics to the song, and found her profile on a music site.
She was part of a band, and performed at that stage every night. Lucky me. I could see her every night, dancing and making us poor men happy.
The next day.
The next morning, I got up and refreshed myself ready for another money losing or money winning day.
Walking back to that same house, I sat back down to the table of familiar faces.
Johnny the Dealer, came and sat next to me. His weeks and worn face smiled a weak smile. He coughed heavily, poor Johnny was too old for this.
But he had no money, so what ever I won, I shared with him. He was my best mate and someone I could trust.
The music started up again, the same one from the night before with the girl. She came out from the red curtains and started singing, her beautiful voice chimed in with the music.
The door to the house opened, and I came some locals. They started to clap with the music, and dance.
"Who's that girl singing?". A man turned to me and said.
"I don't know but she's good.". I replied, the man smiled and nodded.
"She's too good for this place. She needs to get out of here and perform local. We heard her from our house and we had to see who was singing.", He said with such a smile.
Maybe he knew her?
"She's my cousin." Well, that just answered my question.
The man went up to the stage and clapped along with the music, the girl smiling as he did so.
He danced along with her, as they raised their hats and did a western dance.
All people in the house danced to the girls beautiful voice and music, giving life and soul to the worn down gambling site.
Even Johnny got his strength to dance a bit to the music. Guitars and drums played rock and beat to the singing.
This lasted forever, until it was closing time. The girl stepped off the stage and walked to the exit, this was my chance to stop her.
I extended my arm to grab her, she finds around and frowned, "Do you need something?". Her posh accent spoke.
"What's your name? You sound amazing.. I- uh really love your singing." I said, keeping a smile on my face.
She smiled immediately. "Thanks! My name is Amy Ellis. What's your name young man?", Her voice said in such an angelic tone.
"Josh Prentice."
"I'll hope to see you soon Josh."
And with that she was gone. Leaving me to clear up the rubbish and empty drinks with Johnny, hoping to see her the next night.
