-flashback-
"Father!" A small boy not even reaching the height of his father's hip, exclaimed out to his father, frowning. "Why can't I play like the other children outside?" He looked up into his father's grey, cold eyes. His father was a distant man who was very cruel in his principles and icy to everyone included his son.
"Because you are not like those peasants, you will soon be a man be rid of these childish thoughts, you are the heir to a powerful throne Do You Understand boy?" His father's sharp tone made the boy shut up immediately frowning to himself and he nodded in response. "Answer me properly."
"Yes father, I understand." The boy said. His father nodded in approval and dismissal so Damien went to his vase, empty room, too empty for a 7 year old boy. The wooden toys scattered about only waited for the emotionless, faceless maids to clean up while Damien sat dreaming of playing with other children his age.
A spark of mischief shined in his grey eyes when he devised a plan in his head, you see for a 7 year old he was smart and tactical, avoiding his father's sharp, tedious temper. He was to sneak outside midday where he was normally in his room playing and not checked on til dinner which was perfect. When he was safely out he made his way to the area where the village children played together in a vast selfmade playground.
Damien stood out as his clothing was of richer material and skin clean, he was royalty after all, a large boy laughed out attracting the other childrens attention.
"What's this boy doing here and what is he wearing?" He called out laughing and mocking Damien. He just stared up at this boy who was obviously much much bigger than he was. In the crowd a small girl with shiny, blue eyes stood watching as the typical bullies of the village children picked their new victim. She was sick of it, she may be small but she had a fiery sprit.
All she said was the new boy be pushed down to the ground and tear his trousers at the knee. When they left him she ran over helping the boy to his feet.
"Are you okay?" December asked kindly to the boy whose name she didnt know.
"No, my knee hurts." He whispered low as if he didnt want to admit it at all.
"Well my mother always says that if you hurt yourself, a kiss to the wound will heal it," she told him while smiling, and then kissed his knee. "See, all better." The wound was gone and the skin was healed. The prince looked at what was happening with widened eyes.
"That was so cool." He smiled and then started laughing happily hugging December suddenly.
" How did you do that?" His silver eyes glittered staring curiously at Demeber who smiled a smile showing her missing front tooth on display.
"It's a secret okay you can't tell anyone, noone knows okay?" She asked. He nodded in agreement.
She explained how she could just heal her own self when she fell as she was clumsy as little children are at that age well some of them.
"I'm Day," The prince introduced himself proudly giving himself a nickname. "What's your name?"
"December." She replied.
After they played together for a while next to an old oak tree away from the other mean children, the prince had tk leave before one of the servents realised he was gone for too long , saying goodbye to his new friend he left sneaking back before anyone realised. That night he told to himself why did father want me away from the other children, yes they were mean but so was father? December was so nice and caring and she had powers, something from the stories his nurse told him about as a bed time stories.
The next day, he repeated his actions against his fathers will again, playing with december and then returning without detection. This carried on for a week. The prince was in his room ready to leave when his father entered his room.
"Going somewhere, boy?" His tone mocking. Damien was stuck to his bed petrified he hadnt seen his father this angry.
"Did you really think that you could leave and enter my castle undetected without me being informed, the only reason i even let yiu leave was so you could get a taster of the outside world." He came close leaning to his level. "And dont think for a second that you will leave again." Damiens eyes began to water as he stared into his fathers cold eyes.
"Stupid boy, I shouldve been more firm with you!" He snapped turning to leave slamming the door behind him. Damien ran after his father into the hallway outside his room one of the many corridors in the vase castle.
"But father, I'm sorry.." He ran after his father grabbing his sleeve, only to be flung to the floor. "Stupid boy, you will learn not to disobey your father." Now sobbing, the small prince sat where he was flung on the ground.
This seemed to anger his father as squated down to his level grabbing the 7 year olds roughly making him meet his eye. "Don't cry, you remind me of your mother, she was weak just like you, she died having you a boy that can't listen to his father. "
He straightned towering over the small boy before turning to walk away.
December was tucked away turned into a distant memory, cold like winter, because this kind 7 year old's spirt was now broken.
