Austin's POV

Hot! Why is it so hot? I wonder as I stir from my comfy resting position... Wait that's not cause of the weather! "Amelia," I quickly sit up, realizing I had fallen asleep an we still haven't been found, "wake up!" She just groans and turns.nooo this should not be happening! She has to be getting better!!
She is burning up and a
Slowly slipping in unconsciousness. "Oh no, Amelia?" I try calling and shaking her again. She goes stiff! No sounds, no movement, nothing. I begin panicking! There has to be something I can do! Why is Leo taking so long! It's pretty dark already and there's no sign of a rescue team.
I quickly lay her on the ground and start looking for a way out, a way I can manage to get her and myself out at once.  Her phone has no service and even if it did have it requires a password. I try the beeper but it's still not working. Why did they give us these things?! I'm completely doubting my intelligence... I can't even help the girl I'm supposed to protect.. I'm so dead if anything happens to her... I'll never forgive myself if anything happens to her.
I look around again for any other solution but no luck.  I turn my attention to her once more and She is sweating and her body seems to get warmer. "Hold on," I said more to myself than her, "I will get you out."
I spot a few vines from the other end of the ditch but I had to find a way to climb up safely. It's dark now, so it's not as easy as earlier when I was looking for some herbs. Using Amelia's phone as a flashlight, I quickly tug onto some loose tree roots that were hanging on the sides of the ditch. This better work out!
........

I manage to go out of the ditch, go round the ditch and collect the few vines hanging into the ditch. I check down the ditch to make sure nothing is going on with Amelia and walk a few meters away from the ditch, we're I find a tree with some vines too. I probably didn't notice this earlier due to the panicking.
After collecting enough vines, I head back to the ditch and begin braiding the vines together to form a very thick and strong rope. I then tie the rope made to one of the nearby trees and  do a few tests to ensure it is strong enough to support us.
"Come on, Amelia," I try waking her again, "wake up!" I get no response. Not like they would be any. I hope this isn't something really serious cause she hasn't woken up since the accident and it's been 2 hours now. I quickly tie the loose end of the rope around Amelia securely, tying it several rounds around her waist. Once I make sure it's tight and secure climb out of the ditch. Once out, I begin pulling Amelia up and It is not easy.  Damn she's heavier than she looks! She would probably kill me for thinking this! Please be alright!
****"***

Sound of footsteps ahead alerts me. I quickly run in that direction with Amelia held tightly in my arms. Yes we made it out and I say it was any easy.
"We are almost there," I assure both of us, "just hold on!" I could feel myself slowly giving in to exhaustion. Today's activities finally catching up to me or maybe it is from the relief of finally finding help.
"HELP!" I shout as soon as I see some figures ahead. My vision is beginning to blur. I can walk or run any further. "Austin!" I hear a concerned voice that I quickly recognize as Leo. "She's not waking up!" I explain as they get closer, "help her." With that said everything went black.
******

A slow beeping sound is all I can hear. I try to turn in my comfy bed, trying to get rid of the sound.... Wait! Bed? Where am I?? I open my eyes and quickly take in my surroundings.
All my eyes meet  are white walls, drip stands and all the weird hospital things. "Amelia!" I call out "doctor! Anyone out there?"
Soon a female in a white gown, who I  assume is a doctor, Walks in and begins asking me questions, "are your feeling any dizziness, discomfort perhaps?" I shake my head no, "well, you just collapsed from exhaustion, nothing serious."
"What of the girl I was with?" I question, "is she alright?".
"Her situation is rather serious, " She explains, "though her head Injury was taken care of, she was already weak and running a fever. The fever is the reason she's in a coma of some sort."
"We'll she be okay? " I ask, hoping it won't involve parents.
"I will need to see her medical history, " She finally said the one thing I was afraid of, "she seems to have a weak immune system. "
"Okay doctor, I'll get back to you, " I answer, "for now, try to keep her out of danger. "
After that, the doctor walks out and in walks my dad and mom. "Oh my gosh, how are you feeling sweetheart? " My mom says seating next to me on the bed, already in tears. Oh dear, I'm done for!
"Why can't you take care of yourself? " She continues, "now look at that poor girl, she's hurt too! " I am sorry but I think these ain't my parents! I was clearly thinking they are worried about me here but it seems Amelia is the first priority.  Is there something I do not know? Wait, the doctor said she has a weak immune system..  Is that what the problem is about?
"Mom, I am okay, " I assure her, "and so will be Amelia, don't panic! "
"Yes love, why don't you go and check with the doctor? "  My dad butts in, smiling sweetly to my mum. Okay this is not right! He'll seriously kill me if we remain alone.
"Nooo mum that's not necessary, " I try my luck, "I already did!"
"I need to hear it myself, " She responds and heads out... Here it comes!
"YOU HAD ONLY ONE SIMPLE TASK, ONE!" Dad yells, "TAKE CARE OF AMELIA! " It's not easy if she's avoiding you!  I think, rolling my eyes, which turned out to be a big mistake since my dad saw it. "You even dare to roll your eyes! " Oh dear! Was I adopted!
"Dad I really tried my best," I explain irritatedly, "I'm hospitalized too, in case you didn't notice!"
"Would you be here if you had take extra care of her!"
I'm really adopted!
"You don't get it, do you?" My dad adds, "Amelia is a special case. "
"What do you mean? "
"She needs extra care! "
"Because she has a weak immune system? "
"No, not only that! " He sighs, and sits next to me, "I'm sorry Austin, but I had to inform her parents!"
"Why do that?" I asked back. This was not part of the plan. "Only they can deal with this situation! " He answers.
He's right though, the doctor did need her medical history.
"When will they get here?" I ask.
"They are here!"
Kill me now!
.........

"Uncle,  Aunt, " I begin as I enter Amelia's room, "I'm really sorry."
"No need to apologize, darling, " Amelia's mom says, "it's all our fault!"
"No aunt," I oppose, "don't say that!
" I knew this would turn out horrible!"
"But you did it for her!"
"Look at her now, in a coma!" By now tears were rolling down her cheeks. This is all my fault! If I had not scared her or had just refused to separate from the start, this wouldn't have happened.
"No need to blame ourselves, " Amelia's dad interjects, "what's done is done?"
Everyone is quiet after that, Waiting for his next decision. He was against this from the start, I wonder what he'll do next.
"We're taking Amelia back!" He says next with finality.
"Uncle you can't do.... "
"I can not waste any more time, " He cuts me off, "look at her state!"
"Just wait till she graduates, " I try to reason, "just give her more time!"
"Time for what?" He says angrily, "I do not expect to come for a dead body next!"
"Uncle, please, " I beg, and I have never begged before. Why am I even getting bothered by her leaving?
"Enough Austin!" He yells, "you had your chance and you blew it!"
"It's not about me, " I say not backing down, "it's about her! She needs her freedom!" What am I saying? Uncle hates being told what to do!
"You have no right to tell me what's good for her!" He answers back, and damn is he furious, "she's my daughter, and because of your carelessness, she's laying in this hospital!"
"What's going on here?" A weak voice says that makes us all go still. This is not how I wanted her to find out!
