Melody's POV  (A/N Amelia's mother)

When I married Xavier, we had a problem with conceiving a baby. After several check ups it was discovered that I had fibroids in the uterus lining. It was the most devastating news ever!
After four year of being married and losing all hope, I was finally pregnant, but it had lots of complications and I had to abort if I didn't want anything to happen to me. I was not willing, so I decided to keep the baby and if worse comes to worst then baby was the first priority.
Xavier tried talking me out of this but I just couldn't bulge. I really wanted a child of my own and nothing could change that.

Eight months down the line and I'm weaker than ever... I've been in and out of the hospital. I keep emphasizing on saving the baby no matter what.!

Aaron and Clara Smith are here with their son who's a year and six months old. They came over for the collaboration contract between Xavier's and their company. Xavier has been thinking of expanding his business to the states but with the Smith's there it is hard, hence, a collaboration was the solution.
During their constant visits here, we ended up being great friends and finally today is the day of the contract signing and making it known to the world.

During the collaboration party, I kept feeling weak and dizzy. "Are you okay?" Clara asked, "do you need to get some rest?" My head was spinning. I could hardly get what Clara kept saying. Next thing I know everything went black.

Xavier's POV
Seeing my beloved on the ground had me in a panic. Aaron helped me get through it all. Rushing to the hospital, with me in panic and Aaron trying to keep me sane, was the hardest part of the night. it became extra hard when I had to wait outside the operation room, not being alone to go in, with only having information that my wife was going to undergo a C-section operation, and the chances of losing both was high, and they only needed me to sign the papers and do nothing else.

"You all have to make sure nothing goes wrong or else I'll ruin you all!" I shouted for all to hear. everyone visibly tensed up, "Xavier, you need to calm down!" Aaron said pushing me to one of the seats in the waiting area.

a while later, the doctor walked out looking dejected. "I have good news and bad news," he said immediately getting to the point, in fear of my earlier threat, "they are both are alive and its a baby girl," I visibly relaxed and was really joyful but not for long. "But I'm sorry to inform you that the baby is not well and is currently surviving on life support."

I tensed up again. After all the effort my wife and I put in and the pain my wife had to go through only for this to happen. my only child has low chances of survival and I'm here feeling helpless. Aaron came forward and gave me a comforting slap.

"The chances of the child's survival are 50% and the child seems to have a very weak and an unstable immune system and any infection would kill her. it would get better with time, when she gets older," he continued, "the second part of the bad news is that your wife may be unable to conceive again. the fibroids had eaten up a huge part of her womb so it had to be removed too."

I've never felt so powerless in my life. Sensing my pain, Aaron and Clara came to my side and said encouraging and consoling term but they all fell on deaf ears. The doctor quickly found his escape only leaving the nurse to direct us to the rooms my wife and child where in.

Melody's POV

a month later

When I heard the news of my situation a few days after I woke up from my coma, I was very devastated! Clara and Aaron helped a great deal. Clara stayed with me most of the times, occasionally bringing baby Austin along. Aaron and Xavier worked hard trying to help baby Maya, we had her named Amelia Maya Elizabeth King, get better and safe, seeing as it was both their line of work. Aaron had called in a few experts from New York from his corporation to help Xavier. The Smith's had proven to be of great help and company, very loyal friends and business partners.

Maya was now safe and awake from her coma too, but she still had to stay in her incubator for a few more weeks just to insure safety from any infections. To insure that I always had my eyes on her, she was placed in my room too.

A year later

Maya and I were both fully recovered and back home.

Aaron and Clara had left right after, we were discharged, but they would be returning today as it was Maya's first birthday, and first introduction to the world. Everything was already put in place and only the arrival of guest, mostly business associates and a few reporters would be in the audience. Maya has grown into an adorable little girl that's always shy and reserved around crowds.

"Melody! You look great from the last time we met!" Clara exclaimed as soon as she came into view, giving me a one sided hug and kissed both my cheeks, her other hand clasping an adorable looking Austin in a tux. "You too, Clara," I returned the compliment, "and ain't you just an adorable little gentleman Austin." I added squatting to his level and kissing his cheeks. He blushed bright red and furiously wiped his cheeks, "I'm a big boy!"

"Sure you are," I responded laughing at how cute he looked. "He suddenly turned into a mini version of his father, egoistic as him too, always getting what he wants," Clara sighed and then joined me in laughter, "Aaron spoils him too much he'll regret it one day!"

Everything went quiet as Xavier stood in the center of the crowd, with baby Maya in his arms, calling for everyone's attention. He went on and introduced Maya, me and then the Smith's. It was like a continuation of the previous joint event, announcing the prevailing partnership.

When the speech by Xavier was done, Aaron added a few of his own words. Just as Aaron was about to conclude his speech, Austin continuously tugged on his jacket, "excuse me for a while," Aaron said to the media, immediately giving Austin his attention and kneeling to his level. He's definitely spoiled!

"Is she mine?" Austin asked pointing at Maya, who he had been staring at all this while, shocking everyone present, "I want her!"

"Austin!" Clara tried to reprimand and Aaron laughed it out, taking it all as child's play, "kids are quiet interesting, ain't they?" He tried to continue his earlier speech but Austin was still not satisfied. "I WANT HER!" He screamed, throwing a tantrum.

"Alright, she's yours!" Aaron promised trying to get him to stop his tantrums and trying to carry him in his arms. "Noooo! Give her to me!" Austin demanded, refusing to be carried.

This whole thing escalated widely and Xavier reluctantly set Maya down, who quickly hid behind his leg. Austin quickly approached her, trying to get Maya from behind Xavier. "You are mine," Austin pulled her away, Maya starting crying. I tried getting her but Austin wouldn't allow it. Clara and I shared a look. This was bad!

"Austin dear, let me assist you with her just for a while," I tried to coax him. "NO!" was his answer as he turned away, pulling Maya with him.

Xavier and Aaron got the attention of everyone else, as Clara and I followed Austin. I was seriously worried. not knowing what Austin wanted to do. We found then in the kid's playroom. Austin trying to make Maya quit crying by offering her some candy. They looked so adorable. from then on it was hard separating Austin from Maya.
