Everyone Has A Dark Side

One Month

"Why are you freaking out so much?" Her innocent voice asked.

Jade sniffed. "Sorry. I, uh, I'm fine. It's cool."

"Jade-" Jade cut Tori off.

"What's the matter, Cat?"

"I heard yelling and when I opened the door you were throwing stuff."

"Well I'm in here with her and I got annoyed. You know she annoys me."

"So, you're not hurting yourself in here?" Cat asked, her lip quivering.

Jade sighed and shook her head. "No, still one month clean, Kitty. How are you doing?"

Cat looked over at Tori. "Jade! Not now with-"

Jade sighed. "Tori knows about this. She has the same problem as me, but mine is worse. Go fig."

"Tori?" Cat stared at Tori with wide eyes. "You?"

Tori nodded. "Yes, I hurt myself sometimes."

Cat pouted. "How come?"

Tori sighed. "Just...helps me fall alseep at night."

She gasped. "What? Every night?!" She shouted.

Tori solemnly nodded.

Cat looked at Jade. "One month, right?" Jade nodded. "And Beck?"

"One month. You?"

Cat nodded. "One month."

"Um, what's this one month thing?" Tori asked trying not to pry.

Jade and Cat turned to her, but Cat quickly yelped and turned away.

"We made a pact last month when one of us, um, hit rock bottom that we would all give up our vices." Jade explained. Cat whined and hid behind Jade so she reached behind her and put her arm around Cat.

"No more drinking or cuttting for me. No more pills for Beck. And no more-" Cat started crying against Jade's back. Jade dragged Cat out from behind her and held her in her arms. "-smoking or purging for our Kitty."

Tori frowned. She saw the darkness, but she also saw what Jade wanted her to see the whole time.

She saw the light fighting to get out of the darkness.

Maybe it was how innocent Cat seemed. Maybe it was how gently Jade was holding her. Or maybe it was just the two girls hugging that made Tori see the light flicker.

"So you've all been good for a whole month?" Tori asked making them break apart and look at her.

Jade nodded. "Yes."

"Can you help me?" Tori asked, practically begged.

Cat buried her face in Jade's chest. Jade nodded. "Yes, but we have to talk to Beck." She wrapped her arms around Cat. "If you come in our pact you can't slip up. You'll take us all down with you. If you break, we'd break. Same thing goes for any of us. It's a vicious cycle."

Tori nodded. "I won't."

"Okay. I'll tell Beck and we'll talk about it. Can I trust you to take Cat home without stopping?"

Tori nodded. "Yeah, I'll walk her home. I swear."

Jade gave her a nod, then she kissed Cat's forhead and let her go. "Stay safe."

"You too, Jadey."

Jade passed Cat over to Tori and leaned close. "If her brother lays a hand on her and you let it happen I will kill you."

Tori gulped and nodded then Jade left the room.
