I couldn't concentrate properly after me and Annabel had talked, It just felt so ecstatic to be around her. She understood me, something I never expected from a human. Anyway, I made my way to the park bench at the appointed time (ten pm). She wasn't there? I sat and waited for about 20 minutes and gave up. I knew it was too good to be true. I made my way down the path cutting through the park with my head hanging low. I could hear rapid footsteps and a familiar scream. My eyes widened as I began to panic. I quickly took to my feet, following the sounds as fast as I could. The screams led me to the end of the path, where a group of males of about the age of nineteen were crowded around Annabel. I growled "get the hell away from her". All of then turned around and glared at me. The lead one (I presumed) sniggered and said "and whoa going to stop us? A scrawny little boy like you?". My rage started to dwell in my left arm. His subordinates gathered around me, enclosing me with no way out. "Annabel, I suggest you get behind something" I said. A look of confusion began to form on the gangs face. Then a look of unconscious as I sent each one of them reeling to the ground with a powerful punch. The main one reanimated as I gripped his collar and smiled "touch her again and I'll send each one of you to the undiscovered country myself" before slamming his head on the path, knocking him out again. I looked at Annabel and she was still cowering behind a tree "it's ok now, they're gone" I said soothingly. She poked her head from the side just to make sure they were out cold before running towards me and hugging me tightly. She buried her head into my chest and I put my hand on her head. We let go of each other, blushing and sat down at the park bench we sat at the night before. "So what's the deal with those guys?" I asked. "Oh, um it's nothing, they were just after my purse" she replied looking away. "I know you're lying, tell me what happened" I said. She sighed and murmured "It was my boyfriend and his lame friends...". "Before we go any further, what's a boyfriend?" I questioned. This made her giggle and she replied "you really aren't from here are you". We both laughed and it turns out she had 'let him go', whatever that means, because he was a freak. I still didn't understand what she was saying but I nodded politely and listened intently to her troubles. She was about to go before I gently grabbed her arm and told her "listen, Annabel, I need help". "Sure, what is it?" she replied and sat back down beside me. "It's hard to explain but here goes. W-whenever I see you, I get this rush of energy and my heart beats fast. It hurts and I don't know what it is" She smiled and kissed my cheek before saying "does it hurt when I do that?" "Yes" I replied while covering my chest with my hand. "Love hearts Arakai, never forget it" She whispered into my ear before standing up. I just sat there, stunned, watching her walk away. "Wait!" I shouted. She turned and smiled at me again, "yes Arakai?". "Can I walk you home, you know, in case they come for you again" I said while blushing. "Of course you can" she replied and we walked towards her house in the dead of night.
