Laughter and joy filled the air around her. She felt the excitement in voices and saw curiosity in faces.  Even when  she closed her eyes the world around her seemed to be filled with the same symphony of joy. She smiled. But she couldn't hold it for long. A drop of tear rolled down her cheek as she tried to hold that smile. She knew she had to be happy for them. She knew it well. But she couldn't be. She hated being the only person in the room whose every living moment was meaningless. She shouldn't have been jealous of all the people around her. But she couldn't help it. She couldn't help hoping that there was someone else who felt the same every day. She knew she shouldn't but that was all she could do.
