Maddox finally made it to his new home after walking for a half an hour in the very dark streets of the city, he pushed open the gate and locked it back before walking up the pathway and the front porch, he knocked on the door hoping that someone was awake to let him in out of the cold, the house was deadly silent so he soon found himself sitting on one of the swings in the back of the yard.
He looked over at Galaxy's empty pen and questioned where in the world the kid could be, he couldn't believe how stupid he was to not remember to collect the keys, he could have been inside fast asleep but he was stuck out in the cold until god knows when, he was dosing off so he used his feet to push himself back and then held on as he suddenly swung forward.
He had been swinging for a good while going as high as he could when he heard a door open and put the swing to a stop before looking to the side of the yard where a dark figure was approaching, he quickly stood up and grabbed his bags off the ground, he watched as the figure slowly approached before a phone light was turned on and shined on his face.
He quickly shielded his eyes as he listened to the person's deep rumbling voice "who the hell are you and what are you doing in my yard?" he tried to see the person but they kept the light focused on his eyes.
With a sigh he finally gave in "I'm Maddox Dalton I moved in here today... who are you?"
He watched as the light lowered "I'm Alistair Roden sorry about the light, it's not every night you come home to find someone lazing about in your backyard when you don't know them, anyways let's get inside out here is cold as shit." Maddox nodded and followed the slightly taller male to the side of the house and in through the kitchen door.
The door was quickly locked in behind them and the light was flicked on, he blinked a few times clearing up his view before looking Alistair over, he was about an inch taller than his six one, with dark brown eyes that looked almost black, smooth tanned skin and tin lips that looked red and dark blonde hair that hung just above his ears
"I guess you're looking to get in your bed seeing that it's already after eleven, I'll see about getting that keys for you so this doesn't happen again anyways, I gotta get to bed myself, good night."
Maddox nodded and quickly went to his room, he stripped down changing into his ratted jeans before dropping down on his bare mattress and just like that he was fast asleep.
-----
When he woke the next morning he was cuddle up next to something warm, his eyes shot open and he sat up quickly only to take a deep breath when he saw Galaxy lying on the bed sleeping, with what looked like keys hanging from his mouth, it took a bit but he pulled it out and saw it was the keys for the house doors and another that seemed to belong to a room key.
He stood up and pulled on his long sleeved white t before trudging out his room, he looked around to find the downstairs area empty he stood by the stairs and listened but couldn't hear anything so he figured the keys was his and everyone was already gone.
He went into the kitchen and turned at the sound of ticking, a big white clock was hanging high on the wall over the sink, it was a bit after ten on a Friday, his time for breakfast had long passed but he was hungry so he decided to just ignore the timing and went through the fridge, he found a bottle of orange juice and some things to make a sandwich, he looked through the cupboard and found bread and decided that that was what he would eat.
When he was finished he cleaned up the mess he made before sitting at the counter to eat his two sandwiches and drink his large just of juice, when he was finished he washed his dishes and set them in the rack before wiping down the counter before he trudged back in his room deciding to sleep until it was time for him to leave for work.
He cuddled next to an unconscious Galaxy and drifted off to sleep without an issue.
----
He woke up when he heard movement in the house, Galaxy was gone and seemed to be barking at someone who had just entered the house, he got up and went out his room to see a girl stooped down by the door as she played with a very excited Galaxy. She was speaking to him in a baby voice and he was just all over her.
The girl had long raven hair that was pulled into a pony tail that hung loosely over her shoulder, grey eyes and think pink lips that contrasted with her dark skin, she finally stood up and lead the dog into the kitchen, her short pink shirt swaying with every step, a big t shirt tucked in around her waist and white high top converse.
He followed her into the kitchen and opted to watch from the door as she grabbed galaxy's food from the cupboard and fill his bowl, she packed it away before fulling his other bowl with water, she petted his head and then turned to face Maddox jumping back a bit, she stared him up and down "you the new roommate?" Maddox nodded and she smiled "Lace is the name and dog keeping is the game."
Maddox arched a brow at her before saying his name not bothering to state his job, she looked him up and down before walking out the room and going in front, he watched as she dropped down in the couch kicking her feet up on the table, then searching her bag and pulling out a phone which she started typing on.
Maddox shook his head and decided to prepare for work, he took a quick shower, brushing his teeth and shaving before leaving the bathroom, he realized he didn't have a towel so ended up using his t shirt to dry down quickly before pulling on his jeans, long sleeve cotton t, his working t shirt and his ratty converse.
He brushed his hair out of his face and checked his bag before walking out his room and locking the door in with the key, he was happy it worked, he turned on his heels to head out the door but bumped into Galaxy who was just sitting in his path, he watched the dog before walking around him only to stop when the girl came up to him "you need to lock up before you leave, I'll show you if you want."
Maddox nodded and followed the girl around the house as she locked up the doors and windows that could be used to enter the house, soon they were out the house and with her help he locked the front door and then made his way out the yard to head to work, he looked back when he realized the girl was following him.
"Why are you following me?" he asked after he was sure, so he didn't seem like some type of idiot by misinterpreting her intentions.
"Oh, I'm not following you, Galaxy is, I'm just along for the ride, I guess he's just following you so he knows where you are when he needs to follow you." she said and then shrugged.
Maddox sighed but continued on his way, he had to walk for an half an hour and doubt the girl would be happy to follow him for so long, but he was wrong, she followed him through every twist and turn crossing every street with him while keeping pace and he wasn't really happy, he suddenly felt as if he was back in prison and a guard dog was keeping an eye on him as he walked around the area.
He was so relived when he reached the warehouse and gave her a nod before heading inside, he looked back to make sure they weren't following him sighing when they weren't. He looked around and found a big clock that told him he had some time to spare before he was expected to work but unlike the other's that lazed around on their phones or listened to music, he had nothing to keep himself distracted.
He went to Mary-Ann and told her he would be putting in an extra hour, she gave him the go ahead after jotting it down and he was off to the back room, he grabbed a pair of gloves pulling them on before picking up his belt and eventually asking one of the guys to help him with it.
When he was finished he got to work, this time helping to load up a very large truck.
