Maddox took the rest of his clothes out of the dryer and flipped the switch to stop current from going to the machines, he shut off the light and pulled in the door before heading to his room, when he got there he folded the rest of his clothes except for his jeans and white under top along with his long sleeved white t setting them aside.
He grabbed up his clothes and went to the bathroom, he too a quick shower and fixed his hair as best as he could, before drying off with his t shirt and putting on his long sleeved undershirt and jeans, he went back to his room and tossed the shirt in the corner before grabbing up his list and envelope of money, he slipped on his sneakers and then went in front to find Alistair and Mathew sitting in front of the TV playing a game.
He waited until they were finished and then went over mumbling Alistair's name, who paused looked up at him "hey, I got a bit of money and I need to buy some stuff, I just don't know how much it would be or really where to buy it, do you mind helping me?"
Alistair nodded and got up moving to the couch and patting it so Maddox would sit next to him, when he did Alistair took the list and went through it, he collected the pen and quickly started writing the average pricing for it, when he was done he tallied it up and then looked at Maddox "everything would come up to about three thirty, do you have that."
Maddox thought for a bit before going back to his room and pulling out the wrinkled fiver out of his ratty jean pocket and then headed back to the living room telling Alistair that he had that exact amount, Alistair nodded and told him to wait while he threw on some clothes so he could take him "you could just tell me the name and I'll find it." Alistair shook his head and told him because he was new to the town he would easily get lost and he didn't have a phone to contact them in case of that, so he would take him.
He watched as Alistair went up the stairs and could hear him moving around before he came down back, he had on a flannel shirt, faded jeans and a pair of boots, he was stuffing his wallet into his pocket and then slipped on a pair of shades, he moved to pick up his truck keys and then signaled for Maddox to follow him before they were out the door leaving Matthew to play by himself.
He waited for Alistair to bring the truck around before he got in and they drove off, it took more than an half an hour for them to reach a big store, Alistair parked in the lot and then lead him into the store, the inside was huge and split into different sections, Alistair told him that whenever they needed to buy something it's here they would come to, it had everything, from food to power tools, Maddox nodded along as he talked as he lead him to the clothes section first.
Alistair lead him to the back where the long sleeved t shirts could be found but he didn't see any with high necks, so they decided to get him two hooded long sleeve t's that fitted him loosely, they grabbed that up and then went over to the pants section and grabbed a grey sweat pants, it fit him close but wasn't touching his legs and had a draw string.
Then it got a bit awkward when Alistair grabbed up a pair of boxers and held it to his waist, he looked down at his feet when people started to look at them, they seemed like they would fit so they grabbed a pack of four and headed to the shoe section. He told Alistair he wanted something that would last long and be easy to clean, soon he was handed an all black high top leather converse before they went all the way to the back and Alistair picked out a pair of black leather steel toe working boots and they checked his size before moving on.
Alistair stopped to grab a shopping cart, they dumped everything inside and moved onto the bed room section, he picked out a black fitted cotton sheet with matching pillow cases, he followed Alistair down the isle and watched as he pulled out a large white pillow, he checked that it was firm enough and the made sure the pillow cases would fit before he tossed it in the cart.
He then picked a dark blue cotton blanket and tossed it in after receiving a nod from Maddox, then they moved on to the bath section and instead of being able to buy on towel they had to buy a pack so ended up with a dark blue towel set . Alistair checked the list and then lead them to another section where he grabbed an alarm clock and put it in the over flowing cart, he collected the list and sighed when he saw they would need to go back to the clothes section to get Maddox his under shirt and backpack.
But he opted to go for the clothes rack first, and bought a metal one with wheels that he would help Maddox set up later, they grabbed two packs of hangers and then made their way back to the clothes section and grabbed a black two strap back pack and the long sleeve black under shirt with a high neck.
When they were done they moved to the front and had to wait in a line before finally going up, he stood to the side as Alistair unloaded the cart and watched as it was calculated, he cringed at the thought of having to carry something back he was thirty dollars short, but before he could say anything Alistair took the money from him and added the extra and then watched as everything was loaded up before collecting three of the bags and leaving Maddox to fetch the other two.
They walked out silently and loaded everything into the back before getting in, Alistair pulled out the lot and headed down the road Maddox finally speaking as he turned on to the main road "I'll pay you back as soon as I can."
Alistair chuckled and shook his head "you can if you want to but I don't need it back."
They slipped into silence and Maddox looked out the window, he thought they were going home but Alistair turned off the corner pulling up in front of a small white concrete building telling Maddox to follow him, when they went inside he listed as Alistair asked the lady how much for a monthly bus pass and he stepped forward to remind Alistair that he had no money but was brushed back.
He stood there and only spoke when the woman asked him something and soon they were walking out and getting back in the truck "once again, you can pay me back if it means so much to you but be reminded that you don't have to, it's too dangerous for you to be walking home every night when it's so close to midnight and if you were to walk to work that means you would have to wake extra early and I don't think you can handle that, so here you go." he said before passing over the bus pass.
When they got home they carried everything to Maddox's room, Mathew walking in behind them to watch as he unpacked everything even Galaxy strutted over to his bed and curled up on it, keeping an eye on them, Alistair got out the rack and quickly set it up, adding the screws and then he patted Maddox on the back before leading his brother out the room, leaving Maddox to finish off.
He unpacked his clothes and put all of them on a hanger before setting them on the rack, opting to change over to the sweat pants and long sleeve hooded t putting the other clothes on the rack, he set his boots and new sneakers under the rack. He went over to his bed moving Galaxy off of it before dusting it off and pulling on his sheet, he dressed his pillow and put the extra case over the rack, he nodded at it and then moved on to take the towels out of the pack and threw them over the rack.
He took the alarm clock from the packet and put batteries in it going to Alistair and asking him to set it up because he said earlier that he had one just like it, in the mean time he went back to his room and packed up everything before grabbing his ratty jeans and sneakers along with all the packets that he had taken everything from, and went to the kitchen to throw it in the garbage.
He collected the clock from Alistair on his way and then put it next to his bed and stepped back to look at his room, it looked good to him and he smiled, he was on his way to having a normal life, maybe next week he could get a bed frame and night stand, just maybe.
