"I'd like to enclose our camp with walls, and fortify it with machines." Wilson said, explaining his vision to you, the two of you pouring over his blueprints on his sleeping bag.

"Like ballistas or something?" You questioned.

"Precisely!" He grinned, standing up and walking a few meters away from the campfire. You watched him from a distance as he walked around your camp, drawing a circle in the dirt with the toe of his shoe. "We'll need plenty of room to build, I have so many ideas, so much planned."

"So what's first on the docket, the walls or the science machine?" You asked.

"Science machine first, then walls." He said, coming back to sit next to you and folding up his blueprints, stowing them away safely. "Which reminds me, I have something for you."

"Oh?" You tilted your head, eyes going wide when he extended a woodcutter's ax towards you. It was similar to his own, but seemed to be made with much more care and consideration. At the encouraging grin he gave you, you took it from him and ran your hand across the smooth wooden handle, a smile slowly spreading over your face. "Thank you, Mr. Higgsbury, this is awesome! Now I don't have to use my apartment keys to chop down a tree."

Wilson chuckled. "Of course. I could use all the help I can get out there, you and I will be working nonstop on this project. It'll be worth it in the end, I promise."

"With all the wonderment you put into your vision, I have no doubts." You smiled, standing up and stretching. "Well, expert survivalist, care to show me the ropes around here?"

"I'd be glad to. But first, we need to prepare for an emergency." He said, grabbing his pack and filling it with provisions. "I've found myself lost after nightfall with no food, only flint to light a fire and keep myself warm. I'm certainly lucky to still be alive. We'll need to pack for such an eventuality, you never know how long you'll be gone from camp."

"Got it." You nodded tersely. "How long to you estimate we'll be gone?"

"Oh..." He sighed, lips pursing in thought. "Hopefully not terribly long. You must understand this isn't our land. It's nothing you're accustomed to, and it will take you off guard. Some times, things changes, landmarks disappear, and all you have is your instinct."

"Then... Why did you leave me by myself yesterday?" You furrowed your brow at him.

"I didn't think about it..." He admitted. "It won't happen again, promise. From now on, we must stick together."

"I'm perfectly alright with that." You replied, propping your hands on your hips.

"I'm sure you are." He chuckled, placing some extra flint in his pack, humming in thought. "I suppose that'll do... There are plenty of resources to be had out there, we can forage if we happen to run out."

"Want me to carry that?" You asked, concern growing as you watched him hoist the heavy pack onto his back.

He shook his head, flashing you a reassuring smile. "I've carried this thing around for a long time, I'm used to it."

"Alright..." You replied, unconvinced. You picked up your ax and awkwardly patted your hands to your sides. "I guess I'm ready, then."

"Don't worry, we'll hunt beefalo and make you a pack out of hide." He chuckled, patting your back.
