Sophie's P.O.V

6:30. Shit. My flight is in two hours and  I'm currently sitting on a pile of clothes on my cold bedroom floor. My large silver suitcase was open and empty just across the room, waiting to be filled.

I was ready (well not quite) to go travelling in my gap year from my studies. I'm 19 and currently in my second year of a textiles degree at university in London. My best friend Zach and I had always gushed about our dream to travel the world while we still had the chance. So here we are.

Zach should be here in half an hour, I really needed to kick myself up the bum and get sorted.
With a sigh I heaved myself up off the pile of ,now crumpled, clothes and began to fold and place them in my case.
"Finished! At last" I squealed to myself

I managed to drag on a pair of jeans, some white trainers and a long cardigan just in time as I heard a loud bang on the door.
"Open up midget!!!"
Came a loud scream through the door.

Of course, it was Zach.

"Coming asshole"
I shouted back, all while laughing and running to get the door of my apartment.

I opened the door and Zach practically fell through it into my living room, surrounded by his heavy bags.
"Jesus Christ Zach. Hello to you too"
I laughed at him.

"Hey squirt, care to help me up?"
He smiled sheepishly at me while I scraped him off the floor.

He came in and made himself comfortable on my small sofa while I went to grab the left over pizza which I had in the fridge, knowing that Zach would definitely be hungry.
I passed him a slice and took some for myself and we sat and ate in a comfortable silence with one another.

I had known Zach for a little over two years now as I met him when starting my degree. We had originally lived in the same dorm building before both moving out and into to our own apartments in the city. Never the less, in the small time I had known Zach he had become like a brother to me and I know that there is no one who I would rather have sitting in my living room ready to travel the world with.

A loud honking from downstairs broke me from my thoughts as Zach quickly got up from my sofa and brushed himself off.

"Must be the taxi" He stated.
I nodded quickly going into my room to grab my bags.

Zach was already half way down the stairs when I took one last look at my cosy little apartment, sad that I wouldn't see it for a few months, and locked the door behind me.
I lugged my suitcase down the stairs as fast and I could and ran straight to the taxi.

The driver helped me place my bags into the boot and I plonked myself down in the back next to Zach.

"Aaah he we go!!" We both screamed excitedly as the taxi driver pulled out of the apartment complex car park and towards the air port.
